Virginia State Police: “Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Prince William County. The crash occurred July 15, 2023, at 10:31 p.m. on Interstate 95 at the 149-mile marker (Dumfries). A 2022 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on I-95 in heavy rain when it ran off the left side of the interstate. Its operator was thrown from the vehicle.”

“The motorcyclist, Ronald G. Giscombe Jr., 50, of Palm Bay, Fla., died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.”

Prince William Times: “The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has fined Churchill Downs Group, owner of the forthcoming “The Rose” gaming resort in Dumfries, nearly $15,000 for environmental violations related to its construction on the former Potomac Landfill site.”

“Until 2022, the site of the new resort, now being built along Interstate 95 in Dumfries, was known as the Potomac Landfill. Colonial Downs, the original owner of The Rose, closed the landfill as part of the deal to build the future gaming resort there.”

Prince William County Police Department: Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Domestic Related – “On July 11 at 9:32 PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7400 block of Boundary Ave. in Manassas (20111) to investigate a shooting.”

“Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 66-year-old man, suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately provided first aid until fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is expected to recover.”

Young Marines press release: “The Board of Directors of the Young Marines, a national youth organization headquartered in Dumfries, Virginia, has appointed MG William J. Walker, USA (ret) as Advisor for Drug Demand Reduction Efforts and Education. General Walker served as a Special Agent of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for over 30 years and retired as a career member of the Senior Executive Service. General Walker concurrently served as a DEA Special Agent and U.S. Army Officer in the National Guard, where he served in a variety of staff and command positions from Platoon Leader to Commanding General.”

“By presidential appointment, General Walker served as the 23rd Commanding General of the District of Columbia National Guard. General Walker, a Military Intelligence Officer, held a variety of command and staff positions of increasing responsibility, including service with the NATO International Security Assistance Force – Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his military retirement in 2021, he became the 38th Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives and was the first African American to hold the position since it was established in 1791.”

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:  “DRUGS -Rappahannock Regional Jail, 1745 Richmond Highway, 7/6, 7:44 p.m. Deputy C.R. Newman responded to a failed secret pocket ruse. Jail staff advised a male brought in by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office was discovered with suspected controlled substances tucked in his underwear. While the suspect confirmed the type of controlled substances, he advised he ‘forgot’ they were there. Deputy Newman didn’t forget to charge the suspect with felony by a prisoner. He continues to be held without bond.”

“FRAUD – Augustine Golf Club, 76 Monument Drive, 7/6, 7:15 p.m. The victim received notification his debit card was fraudulently used in Dumfries. After receiving this news, he checked his vehicle only to discover his cards were in fact not there. Deputy B.E. Vaughn is investigating. Cambridge Street, 7/6, 7:30 p.m. The victim was going about her day when she discovered she did not have her debit card. After discovering this, she called her bank to discover there were fraudulent transactions. Deputy N.J. Amato is investigating.”

Prince William County Public Libraries: “Prince William County Sheriff’s Office will produce a plastic ID card with your child’s photo and measurements. This card could be the key to assisting law enforcement agencies if a child ever goes missing.”

“Producing the card offers children a fun and positive experience interacting with law enforcement officers. The Sheriff’s Office does not retain the information to protect the family’s privacy.”
