Prince William County Public Schools granted the Gainesville mother of three children ages 6, 8, and 10 a religious exemption to its mandator mask policy. However, things changed Monday, January 31, when her school principal said the children would now need to wear masks.

“I’m not exactly sure why it was only my children, because I do know that there were other children in the school with medical exemptions and other religious exemptions that were not pulled out,” Ballard told Potomac Local.


A man filled his cart with goods from a Home Depot Store in Woodbridge, pushed a store employee to the ground, and strolled out.

At 5:36 p.m. Wednesday, February, officers were called to the home improvement store at 14025 Foulger Square in Woodbridge, near Kohls, to investigate a robbery.


At 10:01 a.m., a FedEx delivery van collided with a fire truck on Prince William Parkway at Balls Ford Road near Gainesville.

The driver of the van was injured and taken to an area hospital, a fire and rescue spokesman said. The crew on the fire truck had been called to the scene for a report of a car fire.


Prince William County has begun planning to build a park in the neighborhood of Thoroughfare, near Haymarket.

The newest, biggest Todos Neighborhood Market is open for business.

The 65,000 square-foot markets in the River Oaks Shopping Center in Woodbridge is stocked with more than 50,000 items, including fresh meats, seafood, produce, and items like specialty sodas not found at other regional supermarkets. The market also features a cafe, a business center to help residents with taxes, and vendor booths operated by entrepreneurs.


One person suffered life-threatening burns during house fire today in Woodbridge.

At 11:24 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 4000 block of Montega Drive for a report of a house fire with an occupant inside.


A 45-year-old man faces charges after a woman was stabbed multiple times inside of her home.

At  10:06 p.m. Monday, January 31  officers responded to a went to a home in the 12200 block of Allspice Court in Lake Ridge for a report of a domestic disturbance. According to the caller, someone inside the home was armed with a weapon.
