A pursuit that went nearly 26 miles through Stafford County last night ended with a violent crash on Butler Road and charges pending for the driver.

From the Stafford sheriff’s office: On October 24 at 9:04 p.m. Deputy C.T. Richardson attempted to stop a reckless driver in a silver Toyota Corolla travelling 67 mph in the posted 40 mph zone of Mine Road and weaving between the lanes of travel.

It was a violent 72 hours on Prince William County streets, as three people were killed in car crashes.

From Virignia State Police: At 3:45 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 24), a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Dodge Charger traveling 72 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. The Dodge was traveling west on I-495 near Eisenhower Ave when the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren for the traffic stop. The driver of the Dodge refused to stop and, instead, sped away at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated.

Shots fired in Woodbridge

From Prince William police: On October 19 at 8:15PM, officers responded to the 1400 block of Cottonwood Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation escalated between two groups of men who were outside near the above area. During the encounter, members of both groups exchanged gunfire before fleeing the area in either a vehicle or on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 and Fairfax County police helicopter searched the area for the suspects who were not located. While investigating, officers located two occupied homes and one unoccupied vehicle that sustained damage consistent with being struck by projectiles. No injuries were reported. The only suspect description provided is men wearing all black clothing. This shooting does not appear random. The investigation continues.


A 13-year-old boy died after he was struck by a car while crossing busy Route 15 near Battlefield High School near Haymarket.

The collision occurred at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, October 19. The boy was crossing the four-lane road when a Honda Odyssey van struck the child. The van had a green light, and the driver remained on the scene, police said.
