Prince William County and parts north are under a flood watch until late tonight as heavy rain moves into our area.
According to the National Weather Service, flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and northern Virginia, including Arlington/Falls Church/Alexandria, Fairfax, Prince William, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

These substances harden and clog pipes and drains in homes and within the county-maintained sewer system.
Atlantic Builders and its employees hosted its sixth annual Holiday Hope campaign and donated $18,000 to community organizations in Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Waynesboro.
For the sixth year in a row, Atlantic’s team of employees has raised funds for those in need in their local community through the employee-led Holiday Hope campaign. They have now given approximately $85,000 to local community organizations. Countless families have been provided for during the Holidays–including over 130 children in Spotsylvania alone–through this annual charitable giving campaign that lasts from November into mid-December.

(The Center Square) – A commission of Virginia state lawmakers voted Monday to file an objection to the Virginia Department of Education’s proposed 2022 model policy for schools, which outlines new rules for how schools handle a student’s gender identity that have been labeled anti-trans by opponents.
Police arrested an Alexandria man accused of assaulting a police officer during a shoplifting case at a Walmart in July.
On July 11 at 9:29 a.m., officers responded to Walmart to investigate a shoplifter. Before officers arrived at the store, store security personnel detained a man, later identified as the accused, who was observed putting items into a backpack before walking towards the exit, where he encountered security personnel.
Willie Deutsch will run to reclaim the Coles District seat on the Prince William County School Board.
Deutsch, 33, posted a video to Facebook to announce his campaign. In it, the Republican cited a widening achievement gap in the state’s second-largest school division, which has been growing since the lockdowns of the 2020 pandemic.

She is the first and only Democrat so far to officially throw her hat in the ring.
Stafford County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor will meet with residents for his first “Listen and Learn” session of 2023.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held Tuesday, January 17, at Hartwood Elementary School, 14 Shackleford Road, in Hartwood. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
