OmniRide will restore more services on Monday, March 13, 2023, after union workers voted to end a month-long strike, demanding $12 million more from the transportation agency over four years.

OmniRide commuter buses serve Prince William and Stafford counties, while the agency’s local buses serve Prince William County and Manassas.

The Manassas School Board will meet on Tuesday, March 14, to discuss the replacement of Jennie Dean Elementary School.

The school replacement has been a point of contention between the city council, which raised taxes to fund a new school several years ago only to find construction has yet to begin.

Stafford County announces that all three major rating agencies, Fitch Ratings, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service, have affirmed Stafford’s AAA bond ratings.

Stafford remains among only 47 counties nationally and 11 counties in Virginia to achieve a triple AAA bond rating – the highest credit rating available. Fitch cited the County’s robust revenue framework and growth prospects, low long-term liability burden, and outstanding gap-closing capacity as pivotal in their decision.

The Central Rappahannock Regional Library satellite locations, which have been on hiatus since March 2020 due to COVID, will be reopening.

The Belmont Satellite Location will be reopening Monday, March 13 and is made possible by a partnership with Spotsylvania County, Belmont Ruritan Club, and the Belmont Club of Women. Every Monday, free wifi, computers, printing, and other library services are available at Belmont Community Center, 7124 Belmont Road, Mineral, VA.


Prince William

The Prince William Committee of 100 will present a forum on clean water.

Dinner and a forum will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Brittany’s Restaurant in Lake Ridge, 12449 Dillingham Square. The cost is $35 for the Prince William Committee of 100 members and $40 for nonmembers. Registration is accepted online.

It’s been nearly a month since OmniRide drivers went on strike, leaving those in Prince William and Stafford counties without a guaranteed ride.

Today, Teamsters Local 639 is set to take a vote on a new contract that could end the strike today at noon.
