Haymarket Iceplex to host Hockey Fights Cancer tournament fundraiser on Jan. 6, 2024

Haymarket Adult Hockey League: “In January and February of 2024, our League is supporting the 25th anniversary of the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. Hockey Fights Cancer is a partnership between the National Hockey League and the American Cancer Society.”

“We are holding a fundraiser event on January 6, 2024. It is a 3v3 Pond Hockey-style tournament in which 10 teams will participate. One team is coming all the way from Roanoke to join us! We also have Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC) designated games for each of the 22 teams in our league. These cancer awareness games will celebrate cancer survivors and raise donated funds for the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives from cancer.”

Roem opposes all data centers in western Pr. Wm.: ‘Send ’em to Tazewell’

I oppose the existence of all data centers in western Prince William County – period. And the ones that are there currently need to be taxed to match Loudoun, if not exceed it, and if someone wants to pack up and leave because, oh no their data center tax is too much, I will personally put a big yellow ribbon around it and ship it to Tazewell County where they’re happy to have it.

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “A 38-year-old Spotsylvania woman caused an auto accident late last night due to reckless driving and alcohol.”

“On December 7th at approximately 5:47 p.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to the intersection of Banks Ford Parkway and Celebrate Virginia Parkway for an auto accident. It was discovered the first driver had the right of way and proceeded through the intersection. The second driver also assumed she had the right of way and proceeded through the intersection. Any physics professor will tell you two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.”

13 students tapped for Virginia Senior Honors Choir

Prince William County Public Schools: “The Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) selected 13 Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) students to perform in the 2023 VMEA Senior Honors Choir at the VMEA annual conference held recently.”

“PWCS is proud to have these exceptionally talented seniors represent our school division at this year’s VMEA honors choir,” said Michelle Milligan, administrative coordinator of the arts in PWCS. “Thank you to our dedicated teachers, students, parents, and community supporters, and congratulations to these students on your successful achievement in music that is being recognized and celebrated at the state level.”

“For those members of the public wishing to speak on any of the rezonings, signups will begin in person at 8 a.m. in the atrium of the McCoart Building. The building will open at 8 a.m. and members of the public will not be allowed to sign up before 8 a.m. Those wishing to speak remotely may sign up online and must sign up before 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.”

The Board of County Supervisors will meet at 10 a.m. to hear two rezoning cases for the long-debated Prince William Digital Gateway. It will clear the way for nearly 900 acres of data center space next to Manassas National Battlefield Park if approved. The site of the first major Civil War battle, a total of 532,727 visited the park in 2022.

Spanberger to hold lunchtime office hours at Stafford Gov’t Center

Stafford County Government: “Congresswoman Spanberger is holding office hours at the Gov. Center next week on Tues., Dec. 12, from 10 am to noon. Come get help with things like veterans affairs, Social Security, Medicare, tax refunds, and more.”

The Democrat announced she will run in 2025 to become Virginia’s next governor, aiming to replace Glenn Youngkin, who cannot run for reelection, per state law. Virginia is the only state in the U.S. that prevents its governor from running for a second term.
