Tensions rose Friday amid disagreements between the Governor, House and Senate on the two-year spending plan.

The Class of 2026 recently wrapped up high school graduations across the district’s 13 high schools, with many seniors also taking part in heartfelt “grad walks” through their former elementary and middle schools.

“PWCPD will be conducting a planned sobriety checkpoint in the Dumfries area this evening, June 7, from approx. 8:00pm to 2:00am,” Prince William County Police announced. “These efforts are part of law enforcement’s continued message to deter drunk and impaired driving. Drive sober, or get pulled over.”
The checkpoint is one of the department’s regular operations aimed at reducing impaired driving in Prince William County.
“The issue is this: We’re not going to stop artificial intelligence. We have to put guardrails on it. But I also think we need guardrails on data centers,” the Fredericksburg Free Press reported. “I think it’s a good first step.”
“The data center industry wants to pay its fair share for power,” attorney Charlie Payne, who represents several data center clients in the Fredericksburg region, said.

“A line of severe thunderstorms is forecast to track across parts of the area through this evening,” NWS Baltimore-Washington announced.
“These thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts.”
“Due to a sanitary incident in the water, the Doris E. Buffett Pool is closed for proper cleaning and disinfection following health protocols,” FredParksRec announced. “We expect to reopen at approximately 5pm.”
No word yet on the exact nature of the “incident,” but pool-goers know the universal drill: when the water gets suspicious, it’s time for a deep clean and a collective sigh of relief.
