Delegate Candi Mundon King (D-Prince William, Stafford) introduced two bills in the General Assembly Session that deal with transportation.
The first would cap the total amount of tolls drivers pay on the E-ZPass Express Lanes in the state to $200 per month. The bill would also allow disabled military veterans to use the lanes at no charge.
Stafford County Fire and Rescue rescued a 17-year-old in a sledding accident on the 100 block of Jib Drive, off Hope Road in the eastern area of the county.
The emergency call came in a little after 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Prince William County Public Schools: “All Prince William County Public Schools will open two hours late Wednesday, January 17, 2024.”
Manassas City Public Schools: “MCPS will have a 2-hour delay on January 17, 2024. There will be no PreK.”

On January 14, 2024, at 4:19 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to a shooting report in the Brentwood neighborhood. A 31-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg was found near Digges Road and Forum Way.
Officers provided immediate assistance, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
Bel O’Neill, president of the committee, said the committee’s decision to focus on human trafficking coincided with National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. While initially unaware of the national event, the alignment added importance to the local initiative, she added.
A panel comprising experts such as Wesley Dawson, director of the office of community safety in Prince William County, Detective Abigail McLaughlin, with Prince William police special victims unit, and representatives from ACTS and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of human trafficking.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responding to snowfall over the past 24 hours in the Fredericksburg area and western regions of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. Crews are applying sand and salt to roads, bridges, ramps, and overpasses to enhance traction and minimize icing as pavement temperatures decrease.
Currently, Interstate 95 and primary roads in Fredericksburg and the surrounding district are still clear. However, a VDOT spokeswoman anticipates that this situation will change rapidly as snowfall persists throughout the evening and overnight.
