Updated 4 p.m. — A former Spotsylvania County school bus aid is charged with sexually abusing a child on a school bus, police said. The former employee’s August 5, 2024, and the termination date was September 26, 2024, said Spotsylvania County Public Schools spokeswoman Renee Daniels.
Authorities said the man lives in Fredericksburg.
Braemar Park in Bristow is now open with new improvements, including a newly paved parking lot, a new playground, new fencing, newly painted courts and the conversion of a tennis court to two pickleball courts.
Prince William County staff and leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 26 to celebrate the improvements funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Operations Board is poised to extend its parking lease at the Broad Run Station through a recommended amendment to the existing lease agreement with the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. This extension will secure 46,974 square feet, or 113 parking spaces, known as the “barn lot,” for an additional 20 years for $1 per year.
The current lease agreement for the parking spaces at Broad Run Station, just outside Manassas, established in October 2004, expires in October 2024. The proposed amendment seeks to extend this agreement until October 2044, maintaining all original lease provisions unchanged.
Prince William County has maintained, for the 13th year in a row, its AAA bond rating from the three major credit rating agencies. This is the highest rating an entity can get.
“This reflects the continuous efforts of the Board and all the county staff who focus on prudent and responsible administration of public resources,” County Executive Chris Shorter said. “Prince William County is a growing, dynamic community, which continues to attract a high-quality workforce and significant capital investment. On September 26, officers investigated a bomb threat at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza, prompted by a phone call from a Woodbridge man, police said. The restaurant was evacuated, police didn’t find a bomb, and the caller was charged with making a threat to bomb.
