Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “A 38-year-old Spotsylvania woman caused an auto accident late last night due to reckless driving and alcohol.”

“On December 7th at approximately 5:47 p.m. Deputy C.M. Sterne responded to the intersection of Banks Ford Parkway and Celebrate Virginia Parkway for an auto accident. It was discovered the first driver had the right of way and proceeded through the intersection. The second driver also assumed she had the right of way and proceeded through the intersection. Any physics professor will tell you two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.”


Stafford County Government: “Congresswoman Spanberger is holding office hours at the Gov. Center next week on Tues., Dec. 12, from 10 am to noon. Come get help with things like veterans affairs, Social Security, Medicare, tax refunds, and more.”

The Democrat announced she will run in 2025 to become Virginia’s next governor, aiming to replace Glenn Youngkin, who cannot run for reelection, per state law. Virginia is the only state in the U.S. that prevents its governor from running for a second term.


Updated 9:35 a.m. — “Flood Watches have been expanded across northern and central MD as well as northern VA Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 2.50″ are expected with locally higher totals across the DC/Baltimore metros,” the National Weather Service reports.

“The Superintendent and School Board provided tangible ways to improve student outcomes, urging legislators to provide Stafford County with increased funding necessary to support high expectations for student performance, provide a safe, positive learning environment, and provide better conditions to recruit, retain and develop staff. Additional discussion focused on the need for a reduction in the burden of unfunded mandates and inefficient government practices.”

“Stafford Schools urged legislators to consider Virginia’s K-12 funding formula to provide a more accurate cost of education in the local area, and to provide for additional local sales and use taxes for school construction or renovation. The School Board encouraged elimination of support position caps to allow an increase in Basic Aid funding. To support the advocation of increased funding, school administrators laid out changes to Standards of Quality caps that would provide for an increase in counselors. psychologists, social workers, assistant principals, English Language Learner teachers, and Work Based Learning coordinators.


“The Long Bridge Project, which consists of two procurement packages (a North Package and a South Package), will construct a new modern, two-track railroad bridge and will allow for the separation of passenger and freight rail traffic, improving trip times and on-time performance for both along the corridor.”

“The North Package encompasses a very complicated construction area from the new bridge’s northern abutment moving north to L’Enfant interlocking near L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, DC. This package includes the construction of a number of smaller bridges within the project footprint, including:”


Fairfax County police: “At 12:24 a.m. on Dec. 5th, officers responded to the intersection of Lee Highway and Clifton Road in Centreville. Officers found a 2013 BMW M3 and a 2012 Hyundai Sonata with severe damage. The driver of the Hyundai Sonata, Sohail Iqbal, 30, of Manassas, was declared deceased by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue at the scene.”

“The driver of the BMW was taken to the hospital for injuries considered life-threatening.”
