Fredericksburg Mayor Kerry P. Devine declared January 21, 2024, “Huntley Day” in Fredericksburg.
At the January 9 City Council Meeting, she honored Michael Huntley, the winner of season 24 of The Voice on NBC, with a Mayoral Proclamation recognizing Huntley’s perseverance and dedication to his profession. Huntley is a recognized singer-songwriter and son of Fredericksburg, who performs American Blues.
National Museum of the Marine Corps: “The National Museum of the Marine Corps (NMMC) welcomed the 7 millionth visitor when Timothy Kapp, Jr of Youngsville, North Carolina, crossed the threshold on November 10, 2023.”
“Kapp, a Marine veteran with 12 years of service, and his wife, Kelli, traveled to the Museum for the Marine Corps birthday ceremony but traffic delayed their arrival. This is the first time they’ve been thankful for traffic jams, according to Kapp.”

“That’s how Michael Brosnan of Stafford recalled the moment he discovered he had one of the five $1 million winning tickets in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.”
When they put the motion for a city skatepark in front of the city council, there was a little progress with officials pointing at skating facilities in Brooks Park and then Curtis Park in Stafford County where the skateboarders were allowed to modify a section to skate in, but it still isn’t a real skate park.
“Whatever the rest of the world is doing, we’re doing the opposite,” said Mark Eyestone, owner of Magic Bullet Skateboards in Downtown Fredericksburg. He’s had a skate shop in Fredericksburg since 2002, and the discussion of a skatepark within the city has come up but went nowhere.
