High pressure will bring a bright, dry day to the region on Thursday with cooler, more seasonable temperatures. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 50s to near 60 under plenty of sunshine. Winds from the northwest will be light to moderate, with a few gusts near 18 mph. Thursday night will be mostly clear and chilly, with lows dipping into the mid-30s.

Downtown Manassas Gears Up for Final First Friday of the Year

“The final First Friday of the year is happening this Friday, November 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.,” the City of Manassas announced. “The forecast looks great, with daytime highs in the mid-60s and evening temps settling into the 50s—pretty comfortable for November.”

The night will feature live music across Old Town, including The Reflex at Sinistral Brewing Company, the Josh Allen Band at Monza, DJ Shon Washington at Studio Luxe and The City, and Cracked Sky at CJ Finz. Grupo Quimbao performs at Mariachis Tequileria & Restaurant, while Grounds Central Station hosts a patio bar. Visitors can also check out Artpalooza at Old Towne Man Cave and try their hand at Axe Addicts. Most shops will stay open late for the celebration.

“At Vocelli Pizza, we believe that when times get tough, neighbors step up for one another,” Vocelli Pizza North Stafford shared. “Some families shared that they couldn’t make it last time — and we couldn’t let anyone feel left out. So, we’re doing it again.”

As a Partner in Education with Stafford County Schools, the restaurant will offer one free large cheese or pepperoni pizza per furloughed family on Thursday, November 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at its North Stafford location, 44 Mine Road. Families need only present a federal government ID at pickup.

‘Hard, But Not Hopeless’: Olivant Calls for GOP Reset After Election Rout

“Tuesday night’s election was a bloodbath for Virginia Republicans,” Doug Olivant wrote on X after the party’s sweeping statewide losses. “The party lost all three of the top state offices—Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General—as well as a still undetermined, but double-digit, number of Delegate seats.”

Olivant, a Republican candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District—which includes Prince William, Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline, and Fredericksburg—outlined a five-point critique of the GOP’s performance, citing leadership failures, fractured local committees, and weak voter outreach. “Richmond bet it all on an imposed candidate they selected—and lost big,” he wrote, calling for “wholescale reform and housecleaning.”

Heads Up, Woodbridge: Occoquan Road Closing for Two Weeks Starting Friday

“Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, Occoquan Road (Route 906) between Horner Road (Route 639) and Old Bridge Road (Route 641) will be closed to through traffic for approximately two weeks,” the Virginia Department of Transportation announced. “The closure is required to lower Occoquan Road to maintain future bridge clearance as part of the I-95 and Route 123 interchange improvements project.”

Hold the Phone! Cops Hit Pause on Calls for Morning Maintenance

“The Fredericksburg Police Department will have a planned outage of its administrative phone lines tomorrow, Thursday, November 6, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. for a system upgrade,” the City of Fredericksburg announced. “During this time, administrative phone numbers may be temporarily unavailable.”

Residents who need to report a non-emergency during the brief “phone nap” can still reach the department at 540-373-1414 or 540-834-2211. Officials emphasized that 911 emergency lines will remain fully operational during the upgrade.
