Fox News: “A paddleboarder who drowned near former President Barack Obama’s Martha’s Vineyard estate has been identified as Tafari Campbell, the Obamas’ personal chef.”

“Campbell, 45, of Dumfries, Virginia, was recovered Monday morning a day after disappearing in the waters of Edgartown Great Pond on Martha’s Vineyard.”

National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “Thunderstorms are expected across the area this afternoon. Any stronger thunderstorms may be capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and isolated instances of flooding. Heat and humidity will build into the area through the remainder of the week.”

The Manassas City Council unanimously approved a franchise agreement with Avports, LLC, to bring commercial passenger jet service to the city’s regional airport. 

“We have to be ready for growth, for the businesses that want to locate here, and for the businesses that are already here,” said Mayor Michelle Davis Younger.

“The E-911 Center dispatched patrol officers to the incident. The initial arriving officer quickly located the offender and ordered him to drop the knife. The offender ignored the officer’s commands and charged the officer with the knife. The officer discharged his firearm, striking the offender.”

“Additional officers arrived and immediately rendered life-saving measures to the offender until medics arrived. EMS transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The offender was identified as Taylor Drew, 34, of Stafford County. His next of kin has been notified.”<

Prince William Times: “It’s finally official: Nikki Baldwin, of Woodbridge, has won the Republican nomination to run for the 29th District state Senate seat after a recount Friday confirmed her razor-thin, two-vote win.”

“A two-day recount, performed by election officials in both Prince William and Stafford counties, showed unchanged results from the June 20 primary: Baldwin won with 2,605 of the votes cast, while Martin garnered 2,603, Prince William Registrar Eric Olsen said in a phone call Friday night.”

The Manassas City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. today, Monday, July 24, 2023, to decide whether or not to allow commerce airline service from the city’s regional airport.

The jets would carry nearly 200 passengers and fly to destinations, including Florida, providing new options for travelers headed to and from the Washington, D.C. area. As many as 30 flights a day could operate from the airport, which is already Virginia’s largest general aviation airport.
