National Weather Service Baltimore-Washington: “A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of the area this afternoon. Record heat is once again possible today. Drink plenty of fluids today and take plenty of breaks. Be sure to know the warning signs of heat-related illnesses.”

“Today: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Heat index values as high as 106. Light and variable wind becoming northeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.”

WUSA-TV: “A woman who worked as a firefighter in Virginia has died from injuries she suffered in a crash in July, the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department said. Mia Ethridge, who her department called a “spitfire,” was in fire truck that crashed in July while working as a firefighter/EMT in Louisa County, Virginia for the Louisa County Department of Fire/EMS.”


Quantico

WTTG-TV: “A Marine student assigned to the Marine Corps University – aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico – was found unresponsive in his vehicle over the weekend, officials say.”

“The student was pronounced dead at the scene on Saturday, Sept. 2.”

Prince William

Prince William fire and rescue: “Last evening (Monday, September 4, 2023, 8:45 PM), units were dispatched for a house fire in the 9200 block of Rainbow Falls Drive (Bristow). Crews arrived with fire showing from the attached garage and spreading further into the home and attic. The fire was quickly brought under control. Two (2) firefighters were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both were treated and released from a medical facility. No other injuries were reported. The home sustained significant damage and was posted unsafe to occupy, displacing two (2) adults. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire originated in the garage caused by accidental electrical issues.”


Prince William

Prince William fire and rescue: “Earlier this morning, units were dispatched to a townhouse on fire in the 4600 block of Whitaker Place. Crews arrived with fire to the rear of the home extending up into the attic. The fire was quickly brought under control. No injuries were reported. The home sustained major damage, and the Building Official declared the structure unsafe to occupy. The American Red Cross is assisting 2 adults who resided at the address.  The Fire Marshal’s Office stated the fire was electrical in origin and was determined to be accidental.”
