Stafford government offices closed for Thanksgiving

Stafford County Government: “Stafford offices, departments, facilities, and all courts will be closed Wednesday, November 22, Thursday, November 23, and Friday, November 24, 2023, for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

“Both locations of the residential and commercial services of the R-Board/Regional Landfill (Eskimo Hill and Belman Road) will remain open on November 22 and 24. Both locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 23.”

“From the 14th Street Bridge to the terminus near Route 17, Transurban will be conducting tests ahead of the planned opening of new access points at Russell Road and Courthouse Road in Stafford County, as well as the new Opitz Boulevard ramp that will replace the Dale Boulevard ramp in Prince William County.”

“More tests will be conducted on December 1-2, 2023, beginning at or about 10 p.m. and ending at or about 5 a.m. each instance.”

Virginia Public Safety Foundation: “The Virginia Public Safety Foundation will honor 30 fallen Virginia heroes on November 18, 2023, in a ceremony for all public safety agencies and families of the public safety professionals being recognized. The guest of honor will be the Honorable Terry Cole, Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security. Our honorees (for Nov. 18) include 17 firefighters, 11 law enforcement officers, 2 state correctional officers.”

Update: Big Stone Gap man dies in Triangle shooting

Prince William police: “On November 14 at 8:41PM, officers responded to the 3700 block of Wharf Ln. in Triangle (22172) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed gunshots were heard in the area which struck a 26-year-old man who was found lying on the ground by responding officers.”

“Officers provided immediate first aid to the man who was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. While checking the area, officers located shell casings in the roadway on Wharf Ln and a residence in the Linden Park Apartment complex that was struck by gunfire.

I-95 E-ZPass lanes operator to study bi-directional operation
