The man suspected of abducting the woman from her home in New York and then taking her to Virginia, where she died following shots fired after a police pursuit, remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Today, Virginia State Police said 34-year-old Michael Davis of Chesterfield County, Virginia, abducted 34-year-old Tatiana David, with whom he shared a child, according to media reports.
Davis has not been charged.
At 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, a Virginia State Police trooper saw Davis’ car, a Jeep Cherokee traveling south on Interstate 95. According to a state police spokeswoman, the vehicle’s license plates did not match the registration.
The trooper stopped Davis on the side of the highway and spoke to him. The trooper returned to the cruiser to run the vehicle information and learned the driver was wanted for abduction.
Davis then took off, leading police on a chase that ended when Davis crashed his car near the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico. As police approached the Cherokee, someone started shooting, and police returned fire, said a police spokeswoman.
David died on the scene. The state medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine her cause of death.
A helicopter flew Davis to a hospital for treatment.
Nine Virginia State Troopers are on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. None were injured.
Police found two guns at the crash scene.

Prince William County Republicans canceled a series of mass meetings to determine candidates for three Board of County Supervisors seats.
The unneeded party conventions were to be used to determine the candidates for each office. Only one Republican filed to run for each seat by the April 6 filing date, negating the need for a nominating contest.
The GOP candidate in the Gainesville District is incumbent Bob Weir, who won his seat in a special election this February. He’s running unopposed at the moment.
Occoquan District, the nominee is Karla L. Justice. She’ll face incumbent Kenny Boddye (D).
Woodbridge District, the candidate is Jeannie LaCroix, who’ll face incumbent Margaret Franklin (D).
Incumbent Yesli Vega (R), the Coles District Supervisor who made an unsuccessful bid for congress in 2022, says she’ll seek relation to the seat. She’ll face Idris A. Jibowu-O’Connor (D).
Republican Verndell Charlotte Robinson will run the Potomac District (Dumfries area) to unseat incumbent Andrea Bailey. Bailey is facing a Primary challenger, Democrat Kim Short, on June 20, 2023.
Meanwhile, the race for Board of County Supervisors At-Large Chair, now held by Ann Wheeler (D), is heading up with two candidates vying for the Republican and two Democrats vying for their party’s nomination.
Jeanine Lawson (R), Brentsville District Supervisor since 2014, is facing a Primary Election challenger in Ken Knarr on June 20 — despite the fact county Republicans have distanced themselves from Knarr.
Also, on June 20, Democrats will choose from incumbent Ann Wheeler or Deshundra Jefferson for their party’s candidate for the At-large chair seat, responsible for setting the agenda for the Board of County Supervisors.
Sheriff Glen Hill (R) wants to keep his seat in what is shaping up to be another rematch with Fairfax County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh King (D), whom he defeated in 2019.
Matt Lowery (R) seeks to unseat county Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth.
Republicans are also making it interesting in several House of Delegates races. In the 21st District (Gainesville, Haymarket), Republicans Josh Quill and John Stirrup (former county supervisor) will face each other in a June 2023 Primary. Josh Thomas is a Democrat in the race.
Ian Lovejoy, a former Manassas City Councilmember, is the GOP nominee in District 22 (Bristow and central Prince William County). He’ll face Democrat Travis Nembhard.
Here’s our full list of candidates seeking office at all levels in Prince William County in 2023.

The Prince William County Transportation Department will host two town-hall meetings in Fairfax and Manassas Park on a $300 million bypass about four miles long and wedged between the Fairmont and Loch Lomond neighborhoods in Sudley, near Manassas.
The department calls them public information meetings, held on Wednesday, April 19, at Centreville Elementary School, 14330 Green Trails Boulevard, in Centreville, and Thursday, April 20, at Manassas Park Community Center, 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, both beginning at 6:30 p.m.
County leaders have previously said construction crews might need to demolish some homes to make way for the new street, though road crews have not released a final plan for the project. The road will be an extension of Godwin Drive in Manassas, along an alignment once called the Tri-County Parkway until that project was scrapped.
The Prince William County Department of Transportation is hosting in-person Public Information Meetings (PIMs) about the Route 28 Bypass project on Wednesday, April 19 in Fairfax County and Thursday, April 20 in Prince William County, both beginning at 6:30 pm.
he meetings will inform residents about the project’s background, and current status, including aspects of the Bypass that most directly impact the PWC community. During the events, we plan to provide an overview of the projects latest updates and timeline, give the public an opportunity to review the project exhibits on display, engage in information sharing and discussion, meet with Prince William County representatives, and provide input. Spanish interpretation will be provided for those who prefer Spanish. Additional information about the project can be found at route28bypass.com.
You can submit questions before the meeting by emailing [email protected]. All questions will be responded to in a timely manner via email or through our website, route28bypass.com.
