Data center public meetings: Prince William County’s planning office will host two in-person, community meetings later this month on proposals to replan about 2,000 acres near the Manassas Battlefield National Park for data centers and to expand the county’s existing “data center overlay district” to make more room for the giant buildings around the county. Updated: Up to six inches of snow could fall, then a cold blast

[Updated 12:45 p.m] More snow is on the way for Prince William and Stafford counties.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for both jurisdictions and the cities of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, January 6 to 5 a.m. Friday, January 7.

I-95 reopens after bucket truck overturns at Fredericksburg

At 7:02 a.m., a bucket truck overturned at exit 130 Fredericksburg. The truck was traveling south in through lanes, where the lanes narrow from three to two. As the truck attempted to make a quick lane change, it collided with a traffic control device, was clipped by an oncoming U-Haul trailer, and overturned.

The bucket truck driver suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene. The other driver involved was not injured. I-95 southbound travel lanes were closed briefly, but the travel lanes are now open.

Police report: Shootings into homes, road rage incident reported

In this post, Prince William police report:

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On January 3 at 10:06PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2900 block of Frankfurt Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. Residents of the home reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard striking the residence. The investigation revealed that the rounds entered through the front of the home before striking the living room wall and ceiling. No injuries or additional property damage were reported. While investigating the incident, officers located multiple shell casings on the sidewalk in front of the home. A police K-9 searched the area for any suspects who were not located. At this time, there is no suspect description.

2-alarm blaze rips through Stafford townhome, neighbors displaced

A townhouse burned this morning in Stafford County.

Multiple occupants from adjacent townhomes are displaced. Five occupants who lived inside the house that burned were not home when flames broke out and were found safe.

BREAKING: Local emergency crews deliver MREs to stranded I-95 motorists

According to Prince William County spokesman Matt Smolksy, emergency crews deliver MREs (meals ready to eat) to stranded drivers on I-95. A 53-mile stretch of the highway between Dumfries and Carmel Chruch, near Kings Dominion, closed about 5 a.m.

About 30 tractor-trailers became stranded near milepost 110 at Thornburg. At milepost 136 near the Stafford regional airport, more tractor-trailers became stranded.
