Well, partner, there’s a project in the works to shore up a slope that holds up Route 608, also known ’round these parts as Brooke Road, in Stafford County. This here project stretches between Camp Geary Lane and Marlborough Point Road, and it’ll be underway from late May through July 2024.

Now, don’t you fret too much about gettin’ through, ’cause traffic on Brooke Road will still be allowed to mosey on through the work zone at all times. But, y’all should be ready for some short delays.

As the busy Memorial Day travel period begins, travelers should be aware of the risk of severe weather on Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24. A deep upper trough tracking across Quebec will bring a series of lower amplitude waves to the Mid-Atlantic region. A slow-moving cold front is expected to push through the area from midday into the evening hours on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather conditions will be ripe for severe thunderstorms.

Well, partner, if the weather holds up, there’s gonna be some northbound lane closures on I-95 this Friday night, May 17. If things don’t pan out, they’ll give it another go on Saturday night, May 18. This here’s happening ‘round mile marker 155, between the Dale City Truck-Only Safety Rest Area North and Cardinal Drive, all thanks to some work on the Powells Creek bridge, according to the folks at the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Here’s how it’s gonna shake out (one lane’ll always be open, so don’t fret too much):

The investigation revealed the victim, a 32-year-old woman, and her 5-year-child were traveling in the above area when they were involved in a road rage incident with the driver of another vehicle, later identified as the accused.

During the encounter, the accused brandished a firearm at the victim’s vehicle before the parties separated. No shots were fired. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Edwin Dale SIMS, was arrested.
