According to police, a 2009 Mercedes E350 was traveling more than the posted speed limit when he disregarded a red traffic signal at the intersection of Smoketown and Minnieville roads and struck a 2016 Toyota Highlander on April 13.

The road reopened about 6 p.m.

I-95 Southbound
Police believe speed was a factor in the crash involving three vehicles at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Minnieville and Smoketown roads in Woodbridge.
According to a police press release, the driver of a 2009 Mercedes E350, driven by a 59-year-old man of Woodbridge, was traveling south on Minnieville Road approaching Smoketown Road when the driver disregarded a red traffic signal and proceeded into the intersection where the vehicle collided with a 2016 Toyota Highlander, driven by a 64-year-old woman of Woodbridge, that was traveling eastbound on Smoketown Road through the intersection.
Starting at 9 p.m. on both nights, crews will begin closing lanes for the work. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternative route.
In Stafford, crews will stop all I-95 northbound traffic intermittently between midnight and 3 a.m. for bridge demolition of the American Legion Road bridge near the county airport. The work is part of extending the E-ZPass Express Lanes from Garrisonville Road to Route 17.
A car left the roadway and careened into a backyard, where it hit a tree.
The car was traveling on Mine Road when it veered off of the four-lane road and crashed into a tree in the yard of a home on Alder Drive and eventually rested on a bank. No one was seriously injured.

A car overturned on Interstate 95 south near Dumfries.
Two people were inside the car when it overturned. Fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the scene at 11:46 a.m.
