Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. March 8 to the intersection of Cardinal Drive and Whips Run Drive in Woodbridge after reports of a multi-vehicle collision, according to Prince William County police.

Investigators say a 2015 Hyundai Genesis was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of Cardinal Drive when it struck a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe head-on. The force of the crash pushed the Santa Fe into a 2025 GMC Hummer also traveling eastbound. Debris from the crash struck an unoccupied 2024 Honda Accord parked in a nearby driveway on Whips Run Drive.


Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Bristow resident on Saturday, February 28, 2026, and are asking for the public’s assistance.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. when a 2013 Toyota Corolla, traveling at a high rate of speed, entered the eastbound Interstate 66 rest area near the 49-mile marker (close to Bull Run Drive and the Manassas area). The vehicle struck the rear of a legally parked 2024 Kenworth 310 tractor-trailer and burst into flames upon impact.


A 19-year-old Bristow resident was killed Saturday afternoon when his Toyota sedan struck a parked tractor-trailer in an Interstate 66 eastbound rest area in Prince William County and burst into flames.

Virginia State Police responded to the crash at approximately 3:10 p.m. on February 28, 2026, about 0.3 miles west of Bull Run Drive near the 48-49 mile marker in the Manassas area.

Police say Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most dangerous days of the year on roadways due to alcohol-related crashes, as friends and families gather to watch the game. Officers are reminding anyone who plans to drink to designate a sober driver in advance or arrange alternate transportation.

The department offered safety tips for those attending parties, including pacing alcohol consumption, eating food, alternating with non-alcoholic drinks and never getting behind the wheel if impaired. Police also encourage people to step in if they believe a friend is about to drive after drinking.


A fatal single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning claimed the life of a Sumerduck woman in Fauquier County.

Virginia State Police say a 2019 Kia Forte was traveling northbound on Route 17 near Dyes Lane around 2:30 a.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver, a 36-year-old woman from Sumerduck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police noted she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.


“Staying off the roads will also provide space for crews removing snow today on primary roads and high-volume secondary roads,” the agency added. (Virginia Department of Transportation)

VDOT crews are actively working around the clock to plow and treat roads after a winter storm left many low-volume secondary roads snow-covered and icy. Interstates and major routes are priority for snow and ice removal before crews shift focus to smaller secondary and residential roads.
