Stafford County Public Schools: "Stafford County Public Schools will officially break ground to begin the construction of High School 6 [on Oct. 25, 2023]. High School 6 is planned to house up to 2,150 students and serve grades 9 through 12. This 290,000+ square foot building is the first constructed in the school system to address growth since 2008. The building will be designed and constructed utilizing the most current Stafford County Public Schools high school education specifications and in accordance with updated Facility Design Standards."

"A groundbreaking ceremony will take place Tuesday, October 24, at 12:30 p.m. The school will be constructed in the Southwest Quadrant of Stafford County between Route 17 and Truslow Road."

"Prior work on High School 6 included an approach to creating a cost effective design that will be applied to future construction projects. While construction costs across the nation have risen, this approach allowed for competitive construction bids."

Stafford County Sheriff's Office: "A juvenile student has been charged after a threat of violence to a Stafford County school."

"On August 28 deputies learned of a threatening message left on the voicemail at Anthony Burns Elementary School this weekend. Sergeant J.T. Harrod III immediately began the investigation and coordinated with school staff to identify the caller. With the expert assistance of a network engineer for the schools, Sergeant Harrod quickly learned the phone number of the suspect."

Stafford County School Board

Updated 7:40 p.m. -- The Stafford County School Board is setting its budget priorities for Fiscal Year 2025.

The School Board will begin working earnestly on the coming year's budget in October. The budget timeline has been moved a couple of weeks earlier than the previous year to better align with the county Board of Supervisors' budget development timeline -- the governing body that funds the school division.
