Taking inspiration from a similar unit within Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department, the mounted patrol unit, the Prince William Police Department partnered with the National Parks Service at the Manassas National Battlefield Park to load the horses.Â

A fatal crash in Nokesville on January 30 has left one man dead and another injured, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 3:28 p.m. at the intersection of Aden Road and Parkgate Drive.
Authorities report that the driver of a 2008 Nissan Titan, identified as 29-year-old David Joseph Russell Callen of Manassas, was traveling southbound on Aden Rd at a high rate of speed. The Titan crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a 2022 Subaru Outback heading in the opposite direction. The force of the collision caused the Titan to leave the roadway, rolling several times before coming to a stop on its roof.

A case of child abuse and neglect has led to the arrest of three family members following the death of a 4-year-old boy on January 19.
Officers responded to The Regency Apartments in the 9800 block of Shallow Creek Loop near Manassas at 7:36 p.m. January 19, to investigate reports of an unconscious child. When emergency responders arrived, they found the young victim, later identified as a 4-year-old boy, unresponsive.
Fire and Rescue personnel administered CPR before transporting the child to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As detectives delved into the investigation, they discovered that the boy and his 5-year-old sister had endured long-term abuse and neglect at the hands of three family members, police said. These individuals were the primary caretakers of the children.
The investigation revealed the victim had been regularly bound with plastic wrap and packing tape, and he showed signs of severe malnutrition and dehydration at the time of his autopsy. Both children had been routinely deprived of food and water.
On January 29, detectives obtained arrest warrants for the three family members responsible for the children’s care. The arrested individuals have been charged with aggravated murder, felony murder, and felony child abuse and neglect. They are being held without bond.
The arrested individuals are:
- Rebecca Ann Romero, 53 – Charged with aggravated murder, felony murder, and felony child abuse and neglect.
- Shanyah Elizabeth Dilda, 22 – Charged with aggravated murder, felony murder, and felony child abuse and neglect.
- Kemmilyn Anita Wade, 18 – Charged with felony murder and felony child abuse and neglect.
The 5-year-old sister, along with two other children aged 12 and 14 who lived in the apartment, has been placed into the custody of Child Protective Services for their safety and well-being.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the deceased, law enforcement has not released the victim’s identity. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure the remaining children are safe and adequately cared for.
Armed Robbery in Manassas
On January 26, around 11:33 p.m., two men, ages 19 and 21, were robbed at gunpoint at the Gardens of Crestwood Village on Provincial Drive. Suspects, described as Black males with thin builds, brandished firearms and stole various items, including a camera and recording equipment, before fleeing in a Toyota Camry. One victim was struck with a firearm and sustained minor injuries.

McDUI in Fast Food Drive-Thru
On January 24, 2025, at 12:25 a.m., Sergeant E.E. West responded to a single-vehicle crash at the McDonald’s on Wonder Road. An intoxicated driver, identified as Juan Gomez Alvarez, 38, of North Carolina, entered the drive-thru at a high rate of speed, struck a sign, and came to rest at an awkward angle, blocking the lane.

Arrest of Shooting Suspect
On January 17, Daquan Warren, 24, of Woodford, was arrested by the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office for his alleged involvement in the downtown Fredericksburg shooting on December 14, 2024. Warren is charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond. The Fredericksburg Police Department, led by Detective Tittle, continues its investigation and urges the public to share any relevant information.

- On January 20, Fredericksburg police responded to reports of gunfire and a burglary in the 1100 block of Townsend Boulevard. A bullet entered an unrelated apartment, striking a kitchen cabinet, while items were stolen from a separate residence. Witnesses reported seeing a group of men fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported, and police are working to determine if the incidents are connected.

- Buffalo Wild Wings: On January 20, a customer left without paying an $80 tab, leaving behind a hotel key that led to his arrest.
- Walmart: A suspect stole $100 worth of Legos on January 21.

The Prince William County Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle crash that initially closed all southbound and northbound lanes of Dumfries Road. Motorists were advised to find alternate routes as police worked to investigate and clear the scene.
Police reported that one lane in each direction had been reopened. Police continue investigating the crash, and drivers are urged to exercise caution while traveling through the area and follow police directions.

Fatal Crash Investigation
On January 17, a crash occurred on Centreville Road near Breeden Avenue in Manassas. A 2019 Jeep Cherokee and a 2024 Suzuki motorcycle collided when the Jeep turned across the northbound lanes. The rider of the motorcycle, Nicholas Blaze Damon, 25, of Fairfax, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, a 44-year-old woman from Woodbridge, was treated for minor injuries. Police are seeking witnesses.

A Prince William County resident, Bethany Selvage, has her car back nearly two months after an unlicensed tow operator stole it, according to police. On January 2, 2025, Manassas City Police located Selvage’s 2018 Nissan Sentra.
