Prince William Parks Offering Free Fun for Longest Day of the Year

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. – Prince William County Parks & Recreation is inviting residents to get outside — both to enjoy free summer fun and to help shape the future of the county’s trails and blueways system.

On Thursday, May 29, the department will host a Countywide Trails Planning Charette from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Edward L. Kelly Leadership Center (14715 Bristow Rd, Manassas). The interactive public meeting is the first step in updating the Countywide Trails Master Plan, and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to weigh in on what connections the county should prioritize. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, or paddling, this is your chance to help expand and improve local trails and water access.

PWCS Students Rule the Court—Again

RICHMOND, Va. – Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) students have once again claimed top honors at the 47th Annual Model Judiciary Program Supreme Court Round, marking their third consecutive victory at the state level.

According to a PWCS release, Battlefield High School students Anandya Sampath, a senior, and Sakshi Gowda, a sophomore, were named overall winners after presenting appellate arguments before justices from the Virginia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Their performance topped the competition, which simulates real court proceedings.

New Sidewalk on Old Bridge Road Makes It Safer to Walk Around Lake Ridge

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. – A new stretch of sidewalk along Old Bridge Road is making it easier—and safer—for people in Lake Ridge to get around without a car.

According to a press release from Prince William County, the Department of Transportation has finished installing about 700 feet of sidewalk on the north side of Old Bridge Road, between Oakwood Drive and Forest Hill Road. The project connects neighborhoods to three local schools, a future park and trailhead, a community pool, and more.
