Stephen Spiker announced today that he is running for Prince William County School Board, representing the Coles District.

Spiker and his wife, Danielle, are the parents of three boys, ages 8, 6, and 3, including two who currently attend Signal Hill Elementary School. He is running to restore power to parents on the School Board and provide a quality education for all kids.

Prince William County Parks, Recreation and Tourism is teaming up with American professional soccer player CJ Sapong and his nonprofit organization–Sacred Seeds, along with Black Players for Change, to host a free youth soccer event for middle-school-age children.

Sapong, a Manassas native and Forest Park High School graduate, is currently an American professional soccer player for MLS soccer club Nashville SC. The event will include a motivational talk from Sapong and short competitions (juggling, crossbar challenge, and skills).

Students from Potomac High School in Woodbridge visited Emerald Ironworks on Wednesday, November 16, to get a closer look at metal fabrication.

The students are part of the Prince William County School division’s career and technical education program, which “offers a wide variety of rigorous and engaging Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs designed to improve academic and technical understanding, offer leadership opportunities and deliver instruction through realistic, hands-on applications.

The Manassas School Board is considering installing metal detectors at Osbourn High School. The devices, called Evolv Express Lanes, would allow some 2,000 students to be searched for weapons as they enter the city’s only high school.

Police charged two 14-year-old boys with possession of a gun on school property at Unity Reed High School, 8820 Rixlew Lane near Manassas, formerly Stonewall Jackson Senior High School.

Investigators say the boys exchanged a gun on school grounds on Saturday, October 26.

The Prince William County Planning Commission approved a location for a new elementary school in Woodbridge. Construction crews will build the on about 10 acres on the north side of Prince William Parkway near the intersection of Route 1.

The school will have three stories to accommodate 631 students. The purpose is to relieve overcrowding at several elementary schools, such as Featherstone, Kilby, and Marumsco elementary schools.

A proud son of Nicaraguan immigrants,U.S. Marine Lieutenant Col. Jose Montalvan Montalvan was asked to speak at Gar-Field High School on Oct. 4, 2022 in honor of the school Hispanic heritage month celebration.

This was the first celebration of its kind at the school and tickets for the event were sold out.
