The hustle and bustle of the holiday season are upon us. I’m surprised at how fast it creeps up on us every year. It seems like just yesterday I was writing about the end of the summer swimming pool season, and here we are on turkey day’s doorstep.

This Thanksgiving, as we do each year, will take a break for a holiday and reflect on the many blessings in our lives.

Fun Land in Central Park is on track to open two new rides.

Fun Land General Manager Clint Novak announced the park in Fredericksburg would build a 40-foot tall drop tower on its campus. The ride, called the “Patriot Plunge” seats up to 12 people.

A holiday tradition cherished by thousands of Northern Virginia families, the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Santa Trains will return on Saturday, December 10, after a two-year hiatus.

A total of 13 trains will depart from five VRE stations: Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, Manassas, and Burke Centre. The 75-minute excursions begin as early as 8:30 a.m. and as late as 3:30 p.m. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their elves will be onboard listening to children’s Christmas wishes and handing out goodie bags.

The annual event will take place Saturday, December 10, 2022. The parade will march from town hall south on Main Street toward Triangle Shopping Plaza.
