Prince William County Public Schools called a Code Orange, meaning students and teachers are expected to work from home tomorrow, Thursday, December 15.
According to the school division, school buildings and offices will be closed. Students are expected to learn asynchronously (asynchronous learning allows for independent learning or within a specific timeframe). Staff is expected to work remotely.
Bob Weir announced his intent to run for the vacant Prince William Board of County Supervisors Gainesville District seat. Supervisor Peter Candland announced his resignation from the seat effective Friday, December 16.
Weir just won a seat on the Haymarket Town Council, where he has served five terms. He’s also served five terms on the Haymarket Planning Commission and has a proven track record and reputation for achieving results for the residents of Haymarket and the Gainesville District.

A robber rushed a clerk at a 7-Eleven store in Manassas and made off with cash.
At 4 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Manassas police were called to a 7-Eleven store in the 9200 block of Wellington Road for a report of a strong-arm robbery.
Hetherington’s predecessor, Rick Nealis, retired on November 30 after serving the last 30 years at the helm of the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM). Under Nealis’ leadership, the MCM has become one of the largest marathons in the country and world, and the organization has evolved into offering numerous events of all distances throughout the year.

According to a press release, the Virginia ABC and Gourmeltz have agreed to resolve all issues associated with the serving of alcohol products without the requisite license to do so at the restaurant. Effective December 23, 2022, the mixed beverage, wine, and beer licenses of Gourmeltz will be reinstated.
