Police are searching for a man they say used a video camera to film women inside a restaurant bathroom.

On May 7 at 2:35 p.m., officers went to the Black Sheep Restaurant at 9935 Discovery Boulevard just outside Manassas to investigate a suspicious person. The restaurant manager told police that an employee found a man in the women’s bathroom using a phone under the stall walls to view women in the bathroom.

A motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries after he was involved in a crash.

On Tuesday, May 3 at 1:44 p.m., rescue crews were dispatched to the report of a motorcycle crash on Courthouse Road at Interstate 95. The single rider was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash and it does not appear any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Manassas Mayor and City Council, and Mayor tonight are set to vote themselves a pay raise.

If approved, the elected leaders will see a $2,300 hike in their annual pay, putting the mayor’s salary at $20,000 and council members’ pay at $18,000, the state-allowed maximum.

The Stafford Education Foundation awarded $6,000 in Future Educator scholarships to seven Stafford County Public Schools high school seniors.

“The Stafford Education Foundation is committed to supporting education in Stafford County, having awarded more than $34,000 in scholarships to high school seniors since the program began in 2017,” shared Stephanie Johnson, Board President of the education foundation. “We are excited to welcome our incredible SCPS graduates back into the division as future educators.”

More than two inches of rain fell in portions of Prince William and Stafford counties this past weekend, one of the soggiest in at least a year. The heaviest rains fell Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, leaving behind a gloomy and cool Mother’s Day.

A driver submitted this video to our tip line ([email protected]) showing a near collision on Mountain View Road, near Shelton Shop Road, after 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8.

According to the driver who submitted the video, an oncoming car lost control of his sedan on the two-lane road, drove into a ditch, overcorrected, and crossed into oncoming traffic.

Initially, first responders thought a pedestrian had been struck, but it wasn’t long before they learned a man had been ejected from a car. The unidentified man was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he was expected to survive, said Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.

There were no other cars involved, and it’s unclear what led to the crash. The incident remains under investigation, police said.

At 3:39 a.m., Sunday, May 8, fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 15000 block of Lee Highway (Route 29), near the Wegmans grocery store at the Stonewall Shops, for a reported house fire by a passerby.

Crews arrived to find a barn fully involved. Fire crews learned there were animals inside but could not be saved due to the volume of fire.

Col. William P. Davis USMC (Ret), national executive director and CEO of the Young Marines, and David Harl, president of Pinnacle Productions, received the Major Norman Hatch Award from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation for a 60-minute documentary, “Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

Davis and Harl attended the awards ceremony on Saturday, April 30, at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. They received a gold medallion, an engraved brick to be installed in the Museum’s Semper Fidelis Memorial Park outside the museum, and a cash prize.
