An alert Panera Bread employee recognized counterfeit dough being passed by a customer and helped stop a forged currency crime spree.

On Thursday, September 15, at 10:43 a.m., deputies responded to Stafford Market Place for fraud at a Panera Bread. The staff told police the suspect had attempted to pass a bogus bill for his order.

On Wednesday, September 14, at 11:23 pm., officers were patrolling in the 13900 block of Route 1 in Woodbridge when they were approached by two men who reported being assaulted in Prince William Parkway and Botts Avenue.

One of the men, identified as a 35-year-old male, suffered from apparent injuries to his arm, and rescue personnel responded and took the victim to a hospital. The investigation revealed the victim and a 27-year-old male acquaintance were approached by a group of men.

Updated 5 p.m. — For the second time this week, police in Prince William County have filed charges against a student after a gun weapon was found on school property.

On Tuesday, September 13 at 9:29 a.m., the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Lake Ridge Middle School, at 12350 Mohican Rd. in Lake Ridge, was contacted regarding a student who assaulted another student with a knife while on school property.

On Monday, September 12 at 10:10 a.m., a School Resource Officer assigned to the school at 15201 Neabsco Mills Road was notified by school personnel that a student with a gun was inside the school. The investigation revealed a student, identified as the accused, brought the gun to school, and displayed it to other students while in a bathroom.

The accused gave the firearm to another student before the parties left the bathroom, said police. One of the students posted a photo of the gun on social media showing the firearm on school grounds which was seen by other students.

A teenager already in jail faces murder charges in connection to a July 2022 slaying in Woodbridge.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau obtained petitions for a juvenile suspect in connection to the homicide that occurred in the 16600 block of Georgetown Road in Woodbridge on July 20.
