On Monday, October 10 at 1:31 a.m., officers responded to the Shell service station located at 17250 Dumfries Road to investigate a suspicious vehicle.

When officers arrived, they approached the vehicle and saw the driver sleeping while exposing himself. Officers made contact with the driver and detained him.

Officers stopped the suspect area of Belleplain Court and Allen Dent Road near Dumfries before 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Police officers, a police K9, and a helicopter from Fairfax County police all searched the area for the suspect but didn’t find him.

Shanti Negus Felton is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and a facemask.

Chair Ann Wheeler acknowledged that the Prince William Digital Gateway CPA review was “confusing” and announced a delay in bringing it to the Board of County Supervisors for a vote.

Despite the compromised nature of the September 14th Planning Commission public hearing, there was no mention of invalidating its recommendation or conducting a new hearing under more trustworthy conditions.  So, you can expect the pause is merely designed to give weary citizens time to forget.

Mayor Derrick Wood declined an invitation from his opponent, Ebony Lofton, to participate in a debate on the issues facing Dumfries.

In an email to Lofton, Wood states his schedule for the next 55 days until the November 8 General Election is booked. Lofton proposed holding a debate a the town’s Simpson Community Center next to the town hall, at 17757  Main Street.

The northbound lanes will close for a reversal from about 10:30 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The lanes will then run southbound from 12:30 to about 1:30 a.m.

From 1:30 to 3:30 a.m., the lanes will reverse again, fully reopening northbound at about 3:30 a.m.

The outlook for Abigail Spanberger (D) is looking better in her race to keep Virginia’s 7th Congressional seat. The Cook Political Report today moved Spanberger’s race against Republican Yesli Vega, a Prince William Board of County Supervisor member, from “toss-up to “lean Democratic.”

The move comes on the heels of Democrats’ successes in recent weeks, passing the Inflation Reduction Act, which addresses climate change, hiring 87,000 more IRS agents to audit citizens and small businesses, transferring some student loan debt to U.S. taxpayers and away from the borrower, and raiding the home of a former U.S. President Donald Trump to secure classified documents.

A first for the area, OmniRide will implement a new local bus service on Sundays.

Buses will travel along the Woodbridge/Lake Ridge, Dale City, Dumfries, Route 1 routes, and Prince William Metro Express between Woodbridge and the Franconia-Springfield Metro station.

A historical marker in Dumfries showing the location of the third Prince William County Courthouse is repaired.

The marker was damaged about two years ago by a lawnmower, and some bricks and mortar were knocked off the monument.
