Dominion Energy asked about a proposed landfill at Possum Point, near Dumfries, that would store toxic coal ash during a community meeting on April 4, 2022.

Several residents who would be affected by a proposed coal ash landfill came to Potomac Shores Middle School filled with questions.

Dominion Energy proposes building a $347 million landfill to store coal ash at the bottom of water ponds at the Possum Point Power Station on the Potomac River near Dumfries.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, Dominion Energy will hold a meeting to discuss the closure of toxic coal ash ponds near Dumfries.

The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Potomac Shores Middle School, 17851 Woods View Drive near Dumfries. Dominion Energy tells us Prince William County Potomac District Supervisor Andrea Bailey will share a livestream of the meeting.

A criminal expungement clinic may be coming to a neighborhood near you.

On Saturday, March 21, Prince William County Circuit Court Clerk Jacqueline Smith held the region's first Expungement Clinic. The seminar, held in Dumfries, was meant to show residents how to have criminal charges removed from their records.

Alex Trouteaud, 42, from Barnesville, Md. finished in first place with a time of 1:04:14, today in the Marine Corps 17.75K marathon. 

More than 1,900 runners from 37 states and five countries completed the live and in-person at Prince William Forest Park near Dumfries. Each live finisher, who will be 14 years old and up on marathon event day, received Access Granted into the 47th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) on October 30, 2022.

The late R. Lee Ermey, a Marine-turned actor known for his role as a drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket, speaks at a golf tournament held for the Young Marines.

The family of the late R. Lee Ermey, the Marine-turned actor known for his role as a drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket, donated more than $10,000 to the Young Marines in Dumfries.

The donation comes from the auction of Ermey's private collection of guns, scripts, and memorabilia. Ermey, who died April 15, 2018, was the celebrity spokesperson for the Young Marines, lending his name and his staunch support to the youth program.

At 4:02 a.m. today, police officers at the Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center located at 2300 Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge were notified that a woman was being treated at the facility for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance were driving in the Dumfries area when gunshots were fired.
