Schools open to ‘gridlock across the county’

The school has been in session for three days, and police said traffic outside school buildings is crawling, leading to backups on streets in Prince William County.

All Prince William County Schools opened for in-person instruction on Monday, Aug. 23, 2021 – the first time that all students have gone to school in 18 months. With new parents in the area and new students attending for the first time, there has been increased traffic in and around schools causing gridlock conditions across the county.

Robert Hand says he won’t be intimidated or silenced after police visited his home after writing an email critical of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors.

Meanwhile, the man who forwarded that email to police and asked them to investigate, Rev. Cozy Bailey, the husband of sitting Potomac District Supervisor Andrea Bailey and member of the county police Citizens Advisory Board, broke his silence today.

Police blotter: Shots fired into house, tip jar pilfered

Prince William County 

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On August 23 at 8:30AM, officers responded to the Assembly Manassas Apartments located in the 10400 block of Butterfield St. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a destruction of property. A resident of an apartment reported to police that they located a hole in their living room furniture that morning. The investigation revealed that earlier that morning, an occupant of a neighboring apartment, later identified as the accused, fired a round into the ceiling of his apartment that traveled through the victim’s floor and furniture before lodging into the ceiling of the apartment.

First on PLN: Supervisors demand police chief answer after cop visits home of resident critical of elected officials

Republicans on the Prince Willliam Board of County Supervisors call on Police Chief Peter Newsham for answers after an officer visited the home of a resident critical of elected Democrats on the Board of County Supervisors.

The officer was sent to the home of a citizen they describe as a frequent critic of the Board of County Supervisors on August 4, less than 24 hours after elected officials received the email.

Prince William, Manassas Park students return to the classroom today

Students in Prince William County Public Schools returned to the classroom today. It marks the end of summer vacation and a time of hybrid instruction, with some students in the classroom and the majority at home learning virtually.
