Occoquan will kick off a series of Halloween events, starting tonight with the 1988 classic “Beetlejuice.”
Food, drinks, alcohol, and treats are available for purchase. Registration is $30 for the whole team. Tickets are available online or at the door.
Just before 1 a.m., crews arrived to find a fire in the garage.
Smoke detectors altered the home’s occupants to the blaze. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, said fire and rescue Assitant Chief Matt Smolsky.
Updated October 21, 2022 — The Prince William County Police Department says Justin Allen Tothill, 34, is safe.
The department reported Tothill went missing near his home on Old Dominion Hunt Drive near Manassas on Wednesday, October 19, at 4:30 p.m. He is believed to be missing under voluntary circumstances and may need assistance which qualified him as being endangered, police said.
The event is timed with Halloween and comes as the holiday season approaches, historically the most challenging time for those in need to put food on the table. Rising inflation drove up food prices by more than 10% in the past year, and nearly half of area households with children experienced some food of food insecurity last year.
The non-profit, founded in 2020, works to provide food for the hungry in our area by working with restaurants and grocery stores to pick up unused food and deliver it to those in need. Last year, the food rescue provided 13.4 million meals to the hungry.
Philip Sowers told Potomac Local News he and his wife commute in their Buick SUV to work at an office on Fairfax County Parkway. They decided to use the new E-ZPass lanes when the first segment of the tolled lanes opened late last month, from Haymarket to Route 29 in Fairfax.
The only catch: the Sowers’ SUV had a luggage rack on top, making the vehicle over seven feet tall. The automated toll booths mistakenly took it for a small commercial vehicle and charged Sowers three times the regular toll rate.
Nearly 130 volunteers cleaned up the Occoquan River on Saturday, October 15.
Volunteers removed 168 bags of trash from the river. They found rusted chairs, iron beams, pillows, buckets, and seat cushions.
Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny Boddye will hold the first annual Barktober, a celebration of Prince William County’s furriest residents, on Saturday, October 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Tackett’s Mill in the lower level.
