Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant T. Merrell was driving home after playing the part of Mrs. Claus for the Public Safety Santa Run when she saw a young woman on the Falmouth Bridge bending over the railing and looking down.

A woman wanted in connection to the death of an infant who overdosed on Fentanyl turned herseflt into police.

On December 13, police arrested Tiffany Nicole Stokes on charges of felony homicide and felony child neglect in connection to the death of her young child that was reported to have occurred at an apartment located in the 14700 block of Soapstone Drive in Gainesville on June 23, was arrested.

On December 14, the suspect sought in connection to the robbery that occurred at the Apple Federal Credit Union at 14229 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridgeon June 8, was arrested. The accused

Stacy Lee Scott, 54, of no fixed address, was located in Woodbridge and taken into custody, she’s charged with robbery. Her court date is pending. The police did not release her bond status.

Over the past 18 months, I have repeatedly heard the statement to the effect that it is the western end of the county’s turn to feel the pains of development. This statement ignores the fact that over the last two decades, the west end of Prince William has in fact experienced explosive growth.

Anyone who knows Prince William County and has lived in this county for the last two decades will agree that many areas in western Prince William have been completely transformed from what they once were.

I had a lot of fun today talking to Ms. Sharon Siepel’s business and marketing classes at North Stafford High School.

The bell rang bright and early at 8 a.m., where I stood before a class of about 25 students and talked about founding Potomac Local News, an online news business serving neighborhoods between Manassas and Fredericksburg. I also enjoyed speaking with Ms. Siepel’s 11:30 a.m. class.

Delegate Elizabeth Guzman announced her candidacy for State Senate in the new Senate District 29, which contains all of the Prince William County precincts she currently represents in the House of Delegates.

District 29 also now contains a portion of northern Stafford County. Jeremy McPike has held the seat since 2016.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 10 p.m. Thursday for areas to our west, for parts of the Blue Ridge, Shenandoah Valley, and points west for more significant icing potential.

Drivers should be alert for a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain that will impact roads late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. In addition to sleet and freezing rain, moderate to heavy rain may lead to ponding on roads.
