Unity Reed High School equestrian vaulter wins $2,000 scholarship

Ainsely Sadler, a 17-year-old Equestrian Vaulter from Bristow, won the National Athletic Scholarship from the National Honor Society of High School Scholars worth $2,000. Ainsely is a Unity Reed High School senior and was chosen for her achievements and dedication to equestrian vaulting.

Equestrian vaulting is a rigorous and high-consequence sport that consists of gymnastics-like maneuvers while riding on the back of a horse. While vaulting, the equestrian maneuvers the horse within a 15-meter diameter circle and is judged on a scale of one to 10.

Route 28 bypass meetings planned in Manassas Park, Centreville

The Prince William County Transportation Department will host two town-hall meetings in Fairfax and Manassas Park on a $300 million bypass about four miles long and wedged between the Fairmont and Loch Lomond neighborhoods in Sudley, near Manassas.

The department calls them public information meetings, held on Wednesday, April 19, at Centreville Elementary School, 14330 Green Trails Boulevard, in Centreville, and Thursday, April 20, at Manassas Park Community Center, 99 Adams Street, Manassas Park, both beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library is marking its 50th anniversary with a special membership drive.

The Friends is a volunteer-run non-profit organization established in 1973 to raise funds to enhance the services of Central Rappahannock Regional Library, focus public attention on the library, and support the library in developing library services and facilities for the region.

Opinion: Stafford should tie tax increase to inflation rate

Dear Stafford County Board of Supervisors,

If you would be so kind as to restrict your tax increase to no more than the rate of inflation on the rest of Stafford County middle-class taxpayers, I will pay that tax rate and send an extra check to cover the difference between the past tax, and what it would have been at $1.17.
