Marine Corps Heritage Foundation: “The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation has begun construction work on the Semper Fidelis Memorial Park Pavilion, part of the expansion of Semper Fidelis Memorial Park, adjoining the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia.”
“The pavilion is part of a larger enhancement of Semper Fidelis Memorial Park, scheduled to be finished in Spring 2024. When completed, the Park will feature 17 additional memorial locations, three new rally points, a new memorial wall for unit plaques, space for over 22,000 new commemorative bricks to be placed along with pathway, and almost another mile of ADA compliant pathways for visitors.”
I certainly hope it’s a coincidence that at the same time Woodbridge Supervisor Margaret Franklin’s signs appeared in Woodbridge, nearly 10 of her opponent Jeannie LaCroix’s signs were vandalized, ripped down, stolen and even run over by a truck.
In stark contrast to Supervisor Franklin’s signs, most illegally placed in VDOT right of ways, Ms. LaCroix’s dozens of signs in Woodbridge District are all placed on private property with the permission of the landowners.

OmniRide: “OmniRide’s Service Change will take effect on Monday, August 21. Schedules for Express and Metro Express will change on that date. On August 26, 2023, OmniRide will add Saturday Service to Local mobility services in Manassas and Manassas Park.”
“OmniRide has added extended late evening Express service from D.C. to Prince William County. Three late evening trips will originate in DC on the Gainesville/L’Enfant Plaza/Navy Yard (612) route, and they will arrive at the Pentagon at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. Riders bound for eastern Prince William can transfer to buses to the Horner Road, Telegraph Road, 234 and OmniRide Commuter Lots. 612 buses will continue to the Balls Ford, University and Heathcote Commuter Lots.”
Churchill Downs Inc.: “Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) announced today a formal court order has been issued placing a pari-mutuel referendum on the Manassas Park ballot on November 7. The order follows a successful petition drive to gain signatures of at least 5% of the registered voters in the city asking that the matter be placed on this fall’s ballot.”

Stafford County sheriff: “A Woodbridge man was jailed for numerous offenses after a traffic stop in South Stafford yesterday afternoon. On August 12th at 7:33 p.m. Sergeant B.U. Demirci observed a red Ford Taurus being operated with stolen license plates. Deputy B.M. Taylor responded to assist and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of White Oak Road and Town and Country Drive.”
“The 50-year-old driver had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was arrested. He was ultimately charged with possession of stolen property, DUI second offense in ten years, driving revoked, driving after forfeiture of license, refusal, obstruction of justice, improper display of license plates and open title on a vehicle. [Jihad Saboor, of Woodbridge] was held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.”
