Michael Huntley, Fredericksburg’s celebrity musician, has canceled his Friday, Mar. 1 concert to protest ticket prices.
Huntley won season 24 of The Voice. A private meet and greet was set for tomorrow, Friday, March 1, at 8 p.m. at the Virginia Credit Union stadium in Fredericksburg. Huntley had promoted this event on his Facebook page as recently as Feb. 26.

The state’s first senator to openly identify as transgender, Sen. Danica Roem, D-Prince William, addressed Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears, who presides over the chamber, with some questions. Sears seemingly offhandedly referred to Roem as “sir” in her second response to the senator.

At a recent meeting of the Fredericksburg City Council on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, Ward 3 Councilman Timothy Duffy commended the James Monroe High School boys basketball team for their remarkable performance in the semi-finals.
The team’s impressive 91-67 victory over visiting Booker T. Washington has set them up for an important matchup against Lake Taylor at Norfolk State University on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 8 p.m., with a chance to advance to the state championship game, reports the Fredericksburg Free Press.
As high pressure settles back into the region, locals can expect brisk winds and cooler temperatures for the remainder of the day. The National Weather Service reports that today will see sunny skies with a high near 49, although northwest winds may gust up to 25 mph, adding a chill to the air. Tonight, temperatures will drop to around 30 degrees under mostly clear skies, with winds becoming light and variable after midnight.
However, the reprieve from precipitation will be short-lived. High pressure is set to slide offshore by Friday, paving the way for increasing cloud cover and rising precipitation chances as an area of low pressure moves through the area on Saturday. Friday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 52, and rain is likely to begin Friday night, with lows around 40 and a 90% chance of precipitation, according to forecasts.
Interim City Manager Douglas Keen presented the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2025 to the Manassas City Council on Monday, February 26, 2024, outlining a comprehensive plan to address various community needs and priorities.
During his presentation, Keen highlighted several key achievements from the previous fiscal year, including the successful establishment of businesses like Micron and Olde Towne Inn and the commemoration of Manassas’ 150th anniversary. He also referenced the findings of the 2022 Manassas Community Survey, which informed the strategic priorities outlined in the proposed budget.
Lee showcased a promotional video highlighting previous editions of the cup, emphasizing its significance as a team women’s golf event between the U.S.A. and Europe teams, each comprising 12 women. Notably, Europe enters the tournament as the defending champions.
Lee disclosed that some participating golfers are expected to compete in the Olympics, with team announcements slated for later this year. The forthcoming event is scheduled at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville from September 10-15, 2024. Golfers will be accommodated at the Hilton in Tysons during the tournament while utilizing cottages on the golf club premises between matches.
