The Stafford sheriff’s office reports:

Out of an abundance of caution, they were detained until deputies could unravel what was really going on. One of the detainees was identified as Deshaun Winfield, 32, of Stafford. The other detainee was identified as his brother, and the original caller, Cory Winfield, 39, of King George.

Greetings, Prince William – Please join the staff at Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park for Park Day 2024 on April 6, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Park Day is a nationwide event that encourages Civil War enthusiasts to help maintain, restore and preserve Civil War sites through volunteerism. Volunteers are needed for projects such as litter pick up, cleaning cemeteries, and trail maintenance throughout the 140-acre park. Please wear sturdy work shoes, bring gloves, and remember sunscreen. Tools and snacks will be provided. Please meet in the parking lot off Iron Brigade Avenue. You’ll feel great getting outdoors with friends and family as you clean up and beautify this piece of Civil War history! No signups necessary, just show up. Fair Weather Today, Showers Expected Tonight: National Weather Service Forecast


The “Pathway to Trooper” program targets young adults aged 18 to 20 who aspire to become State Troopers but are currently ineligible due to age restrictions.

Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they graduate from the Academy. The statewide agency tells Potomac Local that the “Pathway to Trooper” program recognizes the potential of younger candidates and offers a solution by providing employment opportunities within the department while these individuals await eligibility for trooper training.

Police said they knew the man who shot and killed a man outside a Dumfries club.

On March 24, 2024, Prince William police detectives identified the suspect sought in connection to the fatal shooting of Carvell Jarmain Williams, 38, of Warrenton, outside Club Tempo located at 17650 Possum Point Road in Dumfries on March 23.
