“All lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound are closed at Southpoint Parkway due to a vehicle crash,” Virginia Department of Transportation Fredericksburg District (VaDOTFRED) announced. “Travelers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes.”
The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 1 and Spotsylvania Parkway, just south of the I-95 Exit 126 interchange. Travel delays are currently about one mile, and Interstate 95 is recommended as an alternate route for north-south travel.

“My opponent had been in the meeting the entire night, been a part of the discussions, yet when it came time to vote on improving the performance standards to increase setbacks to 1,320 ft to better mitigate impacts to residents, she abstained from the vote,” Bart Randall for Supervisor posted. “We need representation that does their homework, makes themselves knowledgeable, and makes informed decisions, not someone that abstains on difficult decisions!”

“An FBI agent accused of shooting and killing a neighbor in Stafford County, Virginia, was convicted of two misdemeanors and will not spend any time in jail,” NBC Washington reported. “The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said Special Agent Benjamin Spinale shot and killed military veteran Jason Chamberlain in the middle of the street in February.”
“Unfortunately, this time of year often brings an increase in misinformation and fear meant to influence local and state elections,” Maureen Siegmund wrote. “Recently, there has been renewed concern about Title IX and, in particular, student bathroom use in Stafford County Public Schools.”
Siegmund said district policies “are public, reviewed regularly, and fully compliant with all state and federal laws.” She cited legal guidance presented by the school board’s attorney confirming that the Grimm v. Gloucester County School Board case remains controlling law in the 4th Circuit, guaranteeing transgender students the right to use facilities consistent with their gender identity. Siegmund, running as an independent for re-election, added, “The law is the law, and I will continue to follow it.”
