Privilege bingo A Fairfax County Public Schools curriculum has students play “privilege” bingo, giving them privilege points if they are white, male, employed or “involved in extra curricular [sic] activities,” or “feel represented in the media.” [The Daily Wire]

During an emergency meeting this afternoon, the School Board voted 5-2 to recognize a law that expires on August 1, requiring schools to provide in-person instruction (something Stafford has done since early August 2021) and adhere to CDC recommendations, which include wearing face masks to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Students eating or drinking, playing an instrument, on playground equipment, those with trouble breathing, or with a religious exemption don’t have to wear them, the School Board decided.

[Updated 9 p.m.] A Prince William County middle school student’s parents seek answers after their daughter was inappropriately touched in school.

Jeffery Darr held back tears at a county School Board meeting on Wednesday, January 19, as he pressed elected officials to respond on what was being done to protect students.

The meeting will take place at the school administration headquarters, 31 Stafford Avenue as one of his first acts after his inauguration on Saturday, January 15, Youngkin signed an executive order declaring parents had a right to choose whether or not their child wears a mask at school.

In August, Stafford County schools required facemasks for everyone inside school buildings, saying the division is abiding by a law signed by Gov. Ralph Northam that mandates schools must provide in-person instruction following nearly two years of virtual education.

County officials canceled the in-person portion of a meeting tonight to solicit feedback on plans to build more data centers. The meeting will be live streamed via this link, county officials said. According to officials, they’re no longer allowing residents to sign up to speak during the meeting.

Prince William County Planning Director Rebecca Horner blamed the cancelation on inclement weather and provided a web link for poeple to view the meeting online and submit questions. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event will also be recorded.

Maquan Omari McCray, 28, is charged with murder and iht use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said. McCray turned himself in at the county jail, they added.

Smoot and a family member, whom police said once had a relationship with McCray, went to meet him at an apartment in the 8100 block of Cobden Court, near a Costco warehouse outside Manassas, and was shot to death about 10 a.m. Monday, January 17.

Caleb Max, 24, of Loudoun County will seek the 10th District seat currently held by Democrat Jennifer Wexton since 2017. After founding a landscaping business in his teenage years that continues to operate in the region, Max bought a cattle farm and later purchased a small deli at the start of the pandemic in 2020.  

Max made fighting the genocide of the Uyghur Muslims in China a campaign and recently was recognized by the Virginia Muslim Association for his assistance to the Afghan refugee and Muslim community after President Biden’s order to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.
