The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) and Amtrak today celebrated the start of a new daily roundtrip between Washington, D.C., and Roanoke.
There are now two round-trip trains traveling between the two cities. The new roundtrip departs Washington at 8:05 a.m., arriving in Roanoke at 1 p.m. The return trip departs Roanoke at 4:30 p.m. and arrives in Washington at 9:28 p.m.

Manassas teachers and residents on Tuesday will learn about new requirements for culturally responsive teaching, a tenant of Critical Race Theory (CRT).
CRT was the hotly debated topic during the November 2021 General Election that saw Republican Glenn Youngkin win statewide office.
The FredNats finished this 12-game home stand with an 11-1 record after a 7-2 series finale win over the Lynchburg Hillcats. Jacob Young had three hits and a home run, Jeremy De La Rosa homered, and Dustin Saenz beat the Hillcats for the second time in the series.

The new location sits in what had been a regular Best Buy store, which closed earlier this year. Best Buy Outlet Stores sells discounted products like major appliances, televisions, laptops, tablets, gaming products, and mobile phones.
The store also features its Geek Squad technical support desk found at regular Best Buy stores.
