The Rappahannock River Ecological Park, also known as RIVERE, has approached Stafford County leaders to create an ecological center on the banks of the Rappahannock River.

Company representatives made their case at a meeting of the county’s Community and Economic Development Committee earlier his month to make it case that the park would be a help with tourism in the community as well as its importance in ecological research.

Police officers making a 300-mile ride from Raliegh to Washington D.C. passed through our area on Wednesday.

The officers traveled north on Route 1, first stopping at the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building (public safety center) in Stafford County and later at the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico, where officers dismounted and did push-ups outside the museum.

On Saturday, May 14, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (D) will open her campaign headquarters in Fredericksburg.

Spanberger is running for reelection to keep her seat in the newly-redrawn 7th Congressional District, which no longer includes her home outside Richmond. The Democrat has held the seat since 2018.

The city will host a table with information about the bike lane network at a Farmers Market this Saturday, May 14, at the commuter parking lot at 9024 Prince William Street. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

(The Center Square) – Virginia ranked slightly above average in a report that looked into the best and worst states to be a police officer, conducted by the financial website WalletHub.

Out of a possible score of 100, the commonwealth scored a little less than 43 points, which positioned itself 23rd when compared to the other 49 states and the District of Columbia. It finished right in the middle of its neighbors, with three ranking higher than Virginia and three ranking lower than Virginia.
