A plan to create a local health department was met with critical reception at a Manassas City Council meeting.
Prince William County leaders want to replace the county’s Health District Office, operated by the state government, with a health department under its control. The new health office would provide services for county residents, and for those who live in the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
The Washington Post has named Amy Schott, principal at Alexander Henderson Elementary School in Montclair, the 2022 Principal of the Year. After receiving the 2021 Prince William County Public Schools Principal of the Year Award, Schott was nominated for this annual award.
Schott is serving in her first year as principal at Henderson Elementary after serving 13 years as principal at Rockledge Elementary. She has worked for Prince William County Public School since 2001.

At 12:25 p.m. on January 11, 2022, officers investigated a sexual assault at a home in the Dumfries area on October 13, 2021. The 20-year-old victim told police that an acquaintance was visiting early on the morning of October 13 when he went into the basement.
