Starting tomorrow, Thursday, January 5, 2023, travelers can again drive along Route 628 (American Legion Road) in Stafford County and cross over Interstate 95, as a new bridge will open as part of the push to add E-ZPass toll lanes to Interstate 95, between North Stafford and Fredericksburg.

Construction barriers at the bridge are anticipated to be removed by 3 a.m. Thursday, ahead of the morning travel rush.


Democrat Deshundra Jefferson announced today that she is running for Chair of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in 2023.

Jefferson will face fellow Democrat Ann Wheeler, who’s held the position since 2020. So far, there’s no Republican challenger for the seat.


Pamela Yeung will serve as Stafford Board of Supervisors Chairman for 2023.

Yeung, first elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2021,  is the first black person to hold the job in Stafford County. Her peers on the Board of Supervisors voted her into the position after five rounds of voting.


On Tuesday, January 3, at 4:58 a.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at on Route 234 at Purcell Road, near Manassas, to investigate a robbery.

The investigation revealed a masked man entered the store, walked behind the service counter, and demanded the store clerk open the registers. When the clerk initially refused, the suspect brandished a knife at the clerk.

(The Center Square) – Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is calling for an investigation into the leadership of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology following recent allegations school administrators withheld notifications of National Merit awards from students and families.


A Spotsylvania man has been arrested after an incident involving a girl in Aquia Harbour over the weekend.

On Saturday, December 31, deputies were called to the neighborhood in North Stafford to investigate a suspicious incident. Police said a “pre-teen” girl was walking in the 3600 block of Aquia Drive when she was approached by a man in a van. The subject made a sexually explicit comment, described by a police spokesman as suggestive, to the girl.


Republicans selected Bob Weir as their candidate for a Special Election in Prince William County’s Gainesville District.

Weir will face Democrat Kerensa Sumers in a February 21 match-up, where voters will decide who will serve the remainder of former Gainesville District Supervisor Peter Candland’s term that ends December 31, 2023.
