Here’s the latest report from the Stafford sheriff’s office:

Walmart, 217 Garrisonville Road, 4/21, 2:32 p.m. Sergeant A.I. Assur responded to a call of a larceny in progress. Store staff advised a man and woman were seen walking out of the store with nearly $210 worth of items. Sergeant Assur arrived on scene and made contact with the female suspect, who was actively consuming some freshly stolen ice cream. After putting her spoon down, she was charged with shoplifting, as well as, the male suspect. Both were released on a summons.


On the nights of April 20, 21, and 22, 2023, Osbourn High School’s theater department performed their 2023 spring musical,  “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” They were originally published in 2005 by Rachel Sheinkin. The music and lyrics were written by William Finn.

The comedic show follows a group of young but determined middle schoolers, each eager to win the champion title. Though the show had no clear lead, Olive Ostrovsky and William Barfee were finalists and closest to the title.


On April 3, 2023, Freedom High School was chosen as one of the 23 schools that the American College Application Campaign (ACAC) selected for its School Of Excellence award. The award was part of their Virginia College Application Week program.

ACAC’s award recognizes schools that contributed to its mission, increasing the number of First-Generate College Students from low-income families.


Holden’s last day was Friday, April 14, 2023. He has led the department since 2018 and made $156,500 a year.

According to a Stafford County spokesman, Holden took a job in North Carolina to work on a smart city initiative.


Two Woodbridge natives, Ethan, and Nathan Morlu, are first-year mechanical engineering students at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. 

They are 2022 graduates of Woodbridge Senior High School. The twins and eleven other students from 10 states received life-changing news during a visit to the Chick-fil-A Support Center in Georgia.


H2Go Kids is a free virtual educational program the Service Authority offers to public, private, and homeschooled students in Prince William County. Classroom presentations are delivered via Zoom by the Community Outreach staff or pre-recorded videos that teachers can share with students. 

Educational content and activities are also provided at one or two STEAM events each month during the school year. The program is specially designed to connect with the Virginia Science Standards of Learning (SOL) and the local Prince William County water systems.


The emerging artist’s reception will be held on April 20, 2023, at 6 p.m. It will be at Open Space Arts Gallery, 15000 Potomac Town Place, in Woodbridge.

The reception is to help celebrate emerging artists at the Open Space Arts business.
