A film festvial at Porter Library at North Stafford will celebrate the county’s spot on the of fame.

The Stafford County Museum organization will host the festival in the community Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the library, 2001 Parkway Boulevard, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.


To celebrate, the city has planned a yearlong string of events and festivities, including a 150th birthday party, a historic walking tour, burying a time capsule, and workshops and speaker events.

Most notably, the birthday celebration will include a firework show on April 1, 2023, at Dean Park. The Boys and Girls Club at Dean Park will be reserved to support the event, and city staff will help with the festivities.


Stafford Hospital welcomed its first 33-week gestation baby to the newly expanded Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in December 2022.

The hospital told us today the child, Bellamy Scotlyn was born on December 23, 2022, weighing 4 pounds, 5 ounces. Doctors and nurses at Stafford Hospital’s newly expanded Level II NICU cared for the premature baby and mother.


The performance was held December 4, 2022 at Gar-Field High School and included 57 youth performers, as well as participation from four staff members, Gar-Field High School’s Student theater techs and the support of the WDC Board Members.

In Clara’s Dream, we join the Stahlbuam family on Christmas Eve during their holiday party where Clara receives a Nutcracker as her most beloved gift. When Clara goes to sleep that evening, she is visited by dream fairies. The audience gets to follow her as the Nutcracker comes to life, battles the evil Mouse King, and escorts her to a world of dancing sweets.


The park in Doswell, Virginia, will open from 5 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., with rides closing at 10 p.m. as the New Year’s countdown party begins under the Eiffel Tower and concludes with a fantastic firework show planned at the stroke of midnight.

The New Year’s Eve celebration is also one of the last two operating days for the WinterFest event at the park for 2022. WinterFest has millions of Christmas lights, nearly 1,000 Christmas trees, and festive décor displayed throughout the 400-acre park. The iconic Eiffel Tower is transformed into a 300-foot-tall Christmas tree, and the well-known International Street fountains are turned into an ice-skating plaza known as Snowflake Lake.

Fredericksburg Square, featuring Hot Chikn Kitchn and Water’s End Brewery, will host its Grand Opening on Saturday, December 31 from noon until 7 p.m.

In Downtown Fredericksburg at 525 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg Square is a 19,000-square-foot event center, originally constructed as a townhome in 1854.
