MANASSAS, Va. – In conjunction with ARTfactory’s annual Factory of Fear event and fundraiser, the Caton Merchant Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “What the Walls Remember,” a juried group exhibition featuring over 80 compelling works of art by 60 talented artists from across the DMV region.

Running through November 8, this evocative exhibit explores themes that encompass the eerie, the mysterious, and the surreal. Instead of focusing primarily on traditional Halloween imagery, the exhibition casts a broader net, inviting viewers to explore the darker corners of artistic expression. Featured pieces include shadowy landscapes, haunting portraits, abstract expressions of emotion, and visual explorations of mortality and the unknown.

Masquerade brings residents and guests together at Acclaim at Belmont Bay

Manassas Cornhole Tournament Returns to Raise Money for Local Veterans

MANASSAS, Va. – The folks at the Manassas Rotary Club just told Potomac Local News they’re gearing up for their Third Annual Cornhole Tournament—and it’s all for a good cause. Set for Sunday, September 28 at The Salisbury Center on Mathis Avenue, the event will raise funds for two local groups that serve veterans: Willing Warriors and Veterans Sidecar Adventures.

This family-friendly tournament has a spot for everyone—from competitive players to kids just learning the ropes. Brackets include Competitive, Casual, and a special Kids & Parents division, with games starting at noon and running into the afternoon.

Local Veteran’s Dumfries Home Gets $15K Makeover—Thanks to a Big Volunteer Push

DUMFRIES, Va. – A Dumfries Army Veteran is getting a major home makeover today, and it’s all thanks to a powerful show of support from local businesses honoring the National Day of Service.

The folks at Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia – Arlington to Haymarket just told Potomac Local News they’ve teamed up with more than 35 other local companies—including Mosquito Joe, Five Star Painting, and Junk King—to donate over 850 volunteer hours and $15,000 in materials. Their mission: give Brenda Lauer, a proud Army Veteran who started serving in 1993, the home repairs she deserves.

Riverside’s The Sound of Music Drawing Crowds, Tracking with Jersey Boys Ticket Sales

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Riverside Center for the Performing Arts is two weeks into its run of The Sound of Music, and ticket sales are already tracking alongside one of its biggest recent hits, Jersey Boys.

More than 6,000 tickets have been sold with eight weeks remaining. Jersey Boys drew more than 11,000 during its run in 2024.

The new Crunch Fredericksburg promises serious fitness with a fun twist, offering everything from Olympic lifting platforms and HIIT turf zones to HydroMassage beds and saunas. Step Back in Time: Freedom Museum’s 4th Annual Sock Hop Keeps History Alive

The Freedom Museum in Historic Manassas is once again inviting the community to lace up their dancing shoes and step back into the 1950s. The Step Back in Time: 4th Annual Sock Hop will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Bishop Russell Hall, 9290 Stonewall Road in Manassas.

The fundraiser is more than just a night of rock ’n’ roll, poodle skirts, and hula hoops. It’s the Freedom Museum’s biggest opportunity to keep its doors open and continue preserving the stories of local veterans.
