Prince William Chamber CEO Debbie Jones announced her retirement effective December 31, 2022. Jones has led the Chamber since her appointment in June 2014.

[Updated 11:30 a.m. March 16] Elva Clarene Ritenour, 88, of Nokesville, died in a fire at her home on Tuesday, March 15.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

A 27-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Dumfries.

Police found no guns and filed no charges after law enforcement swarmed Stafford High School today.
Investigators went to school after hearing two unfounded reports of guns inside the school. Deputies were tipped off to the first threat at 11 a.m. and went to the school to question a student involved in a fight last week.

[Updated Monday, December 6] Police are in search of three men connected to this incident. Authorities released the following update on the case.
On December 3 at 2:49PM, officers responded to the 2700 block of Yosocomico Ln. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located shell casings in the area of Yosocomico Ln. and Nanticoke Ln. While investigating the incident, officers were informed that a 21-year- old man was at a residence on Jed Forest Ln. with a gunshot wound.
The man boarded a Fredericksburg Regional Transit bus at the Stafford County Courthouse about 12:30 p.m., refused to pay, then refused to exit the bus, a sheriff’s spokeswoman states.
The man claimed to keep a gun in his pocket, she adds. Deputies surrounded the busy courthouse, the county government center and negotiated with the man on the bus. Eventually, deputies used a taser to subdue the man and arrest him, said a spokeswoman.

Ann Sang Hyundai is charged with illegal burning, said Prince William County Fire Marshal Matt Smolsky. Hyundai is the new tenant of the building that housed the old Tim’s Rivershore restaurant near Dumfries.
Hyundai is due in court to answer the charge on December 20, Smolsky adds.

Update August 29
Police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the shooting of two students reported to be from Colgan High School, located near Manassas. Both students were shot in a parking lot Friday, August 27, outside a football game at Freedom High School in Woodbridge.
Massive storms swept across Prince William County and Manassas today, leaving tens of thousands in Northern Virginia without power.
A severe thunderstorm roared through the area about 9 p.m., bringing down tree limbs onto the powerline, rain, and gusty winds.
