The Center Square: “A report released Monday indicates Virginia’s K-12 education system has received inadequate state funding for years — and Republicans and Democrats are blaming each other for the results.”

“The car continued moving, so police drove to the Route 90 bridge to make sure that it would not become disabled on the bridge, as one tire was deflated. Though the bridge is marked with signs that prohibit pedestrians, police said four people got out of the car and threw a bag over the edge into the bay below. A different driver continued on Route 90.”
“The group of people on the bridge included a 16-year-old and 17-year-old from Lorton, Va., another 17-year-old from Alexandria, Va., and 19-year-old Ibrahim Kanu from Woodbridge, Va. Police said Kanu threw the bag and had a loaded handgun on him when they searched the group.”
Virignia Railway Express: “Due to this morning’s incident involving an Amtrak train just south of Union Station, VRE service will continue to be impacted tomorrow. Train traffic is still suspended going into and out of Union Station, and we still are unable to retrieve our train equipment from the coachyard north of Union Station. This evening, we used the five train sets that had not entered the coachyard this morning to run as much service as possible. We plan to do the same for Wednesday, July 12 tomorrow morning.”
“Please note that trains will not be able to enter Union Station tomorrow morning, so they will terminate at the L’Enfant Station. We plan to run ONLY the following trains to the L’Enfant Station tomorrow morning:”

Prince William County Republican Committee: “Today, the Republican Party of Virginia is proud to launch Secure Your Vote Virginia – a brand new way for Virginians to vote early.”
“Here’s the truth – for too long, Democrats have played the game while Republicans sat on the sidelines. Every single election, Republican candidates go into election day trailing by thousands of votes.”
“Update: Fredericksburg trains 301, 303 and 305 and 315 will NOT operate.”
Washington, D.C. Fire and EMS: “Amtrak derailment in tunnel at entrance to Union Station. Initial report minor in nature & no reported injuries. Fire units are working to reach the train, which is occupied.”

Typical summertime afternoon storms return to the forecast Thursday & Friday, and the increase in humidity keeps conditions feeling muggy and hot.”
