Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “On [Wednesday] November 8th at approximately 9:25 a.m. Deputy M.A. Floirendo was conducting her SRO duties at Stafford High School, located at 63 Stafford Indians Lane, when she was informed of a fight in the gym.”

“It was discovered a verbal argument between two juvenile students ensued over a previous incident. The incident escalated when one student assaulted the other.”


Stafford County Board of Supervisors is set to get an update on Musselman Park, the newest county park, during its Tuesday, November 14, meeting.

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “Holiday Toy Drive: This holiday season, join the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office for our Holiday Toy Drive. We will be accepting new and unwrapped toys for kids ages 1 to 16. Please help us bring hope and smiles to kids that need it.

 


Politics

Republicans in Virginia came up short in their efforts to retain the House of Delegates and win control of the State Senate.

Democrats have secured a minimum of 51 and 21 seats, respectively, according to nonprofit the Virginia Public Access Project, which tracks election results. The Associated Press called each chamber after midnight. All seats in the 40-member Senate and 100-member House of Delegates were on the ballot.

VDOT: “The Virginia Department of Transportation will reopen the original Interstate 95 northbound bridge over the Rappahannock River in mid-November, doubling capacity in the Fredericksburg area ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.”

“Starting early Thursday, Nov. 16, travelers will be able to use both I-95 northbound bridges over the Rappahannock River. At that time, traffic will be divided between local and through lanes, similar to I-95 southbound between exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) in Stafford County and exit 130 (Route 3) in Fredericksburg.”


Prince William

“For those members of the public wishing to speak on any of the rezonings, signups will begin in person at noon in the atrium of the McCoart Building. Members of the public will not be allowed to sign up before noon. Those wishing to speak remotely may sign up online here and must sign up before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.”

Stafford sheriff’s office: “A Mechanicsville woman trying to outrun the police found herself stuck between a rock and a hard place (or a police car and a Jersey wall) when the chase ended on I-95 in Stafford County yesterday afternoon.”

“On November 6th at 1:11 p.m. Deputy M.A. Holub was traveling northbound on I-95 near Warrenton Road in his marked patrol car when a Nissan Rogue drove past him on the shoulder at a high rate of speed. Deputy Holub activated his emergency equipment, but the Rogue refused to stop, accelerating to over 118 mph and weaving through traffic.”

Prince William fire and rescue: “It’s that time of the year when the onset of cooler weather induces homeowners to seek alternative and economical methods of keeping warm.”

“The increase in the use of home heating appliances also increases the risk of home heating fires; the second leading cause of U.S. home fires resulting in four out of the five home fire injuries and nearly nine out of ten deaths.”
