Stafford Sheriff’s office: “Whether perhaps his shoes were too tight, or his heart was two sizes too small, a wanted Maryland man’s wonderful, awful idea to steal Christmas was foiled by Stafford deputies.”

“On December 4th at approximately 12:10 p.m. Deputy M.A. Pearce of the Special Problems Unit responded to Lowe’s, located at 1330 Stafford Market Place, for a report of a trespassing foe. Staff advised this suspect was squandering off with loads of goods yet to be sold.”

Suspected Kohl’s thief makes sheriff’s naughty list

Stafford Sheriff’s office: “Despite multiple releases on shoplifters from Kohl’s being caught, one Stafford man’s attempt earned him a trip to Rappahannock Regional Jail and to the Sheriff’s Office’s naughty list.”

“On December 4th at approximately 5:20 p.m. First Sergeant D.F. Purcell and Deputy E.C. Taylor of the Special Problems Unit responded to Kohl’s, located at 1220 Stafford Market Place, for a shoplifting in progress. Staff advised they were watching a male stuff merchandise into a duffle bag. As deputies arrived on scene, the suspect was leaving the store. First Sergeant Purcell observed the suspect, and the suspect observed him. The suspect quickly began fleeing on foot.”

‘Hope Road just wasn’t wide enough’

Stafford County Sheriff’s Office: “Hope Road just wasn’t wide enough for this tractor trailer to turn around at Bayview Overlook. Deputies are on scene and a tow truck just arrived. We hope to have the road reopened soon.”

Hope Road is a winding, two-lane street that links Route 1 in Stafford County with rural areas along the Aquia Creek.

Fredericksburg police: “MISSING PERSON: Amber Leigh Holbrook was last seen on 11/26/2023 at approximately 12:15pm at 419 Bunker Hill Street in the City of Fredericksburg. Amber was last seen getting into a red four door sedan, unknown make/model/tag. Amber was last seen pictured wearing a black jacket with a fur hood, black pants, and black new balance sweatshirt.”

Manassas hires Baker Tilly to assist in city manager search

Insidenova.com: “With the recent departure of Manassas City Manager W. Patrick Pate, the mayor and City Council are hunting for the city’s next chief executive.”

“To assist in that process, the city issued a request for proposals from firms interested in providing executive search services. Following interviews, the council in November selected Tysons-based CPA firm Baker Tilly US, LLP. Baker Tilly’s proposal came in just shy of $27,000.”

Dumfries mayor named National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials Vice President

Dumfries Town Government: Derrick Wood, Mayor of Town of Dumfries, VA, has been elected as the 2024 first vice president of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO), a constituency group of the National League of Cities (NLC). NBC-LEO serves as a forum for communication and networking among African-American municipal officials and their colleagues to share ideas and develop leadership experience. Mayor Wood was elected in November at NLC’s 2023 City Summit conference in Atlanta, GA.
