The Riverside Center for the Performing Arts is staging a production of “The Wizard of Oz.” This classic tale follows young Dorothy Gale as she travels from Kansas to the magical Land of Oz. Audiences will join Dorothy on her journey along the yellow brick road to the Emerald City in this stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s work, which includes the iconic score from the MGM film.

Performances are scheduled as follows: Wednesday matinees will have meal service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., with show-only arrivals at 12:45 p.m., and the performance starting at 1:30 p.m.. Thursday to Saturday evenings will have meal service and appetizers from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., show-only arrivals at 6:45 p.m., and the performance starting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees will feature meal service and appetizers from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., show-only arrivals at 2:15 p.m., and the performance starting at 3 p.m.


Quantico

Two Jordanian nationals were known to federal authorities before they attempted to breach security at Quantico Marine Corps Base.

The first unidentified man was admitted into the U.S. on a student visa on September 11, 2022, which expired 18 weeks later, on January 14, 2023. The second man crossed the U.S. from Mexico to California six weeks ago, on April 8, 2024. The next day, the U.S. Border Patrol issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge and, later that day, released the man into the U.S.


Prince William

Murder Investigation *ADDITIONAL ARREST – On May 22, 2024, a second suspect was identified and arrested in connection to the murder of an 18-year-old man that occurred in the 14100 block of Big Crest Ln. in Woodbridge (22191) on July 18, 2023. While continuing to investigate the incident, detectives learned of a second juvenile suspect involved in the incident and obtained detention orders. Further investigation revealed that a group of males, including the victim and the suspect, met in the above area to conduct a marijuana transaction when rounds were fired, fatally striking the victim. Detectives identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male juvenile. On May 22, the accused was located and arrested in Stafford County by the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. Another juvenile suspect was previously arrested in connection to the incident on July 21, 2023.

Prince William

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot dead in a vehicle on Cadet Court near Gainesville early on Thursday, May 23. Detectives believe the incident is not random and seek information from the public to aid the investigation. We’re working to get more information from the police.

On May 19, 2024, Douglas Ernesto Benavides, 43, was arrested in Woodbridge for brandishing a machete-style knife during a road rage incident while intoxicated, with a 2-year-old in the vehicle, police said. Benavides faces multiple charges, including felony child neglect, brandishing a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, DUI, and driving on a revoked license, and is being held without bond until his court date on July 18, 2024.


Quantico

We’re getting a clearer picture of the two men inside a box truck used by two illegal immigrants to ram the main gate at Quantico Marine Corps Base.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Stafford County deputies assisted Maryland homicide detectives in taking 22-year-old Raheem Adams into custody. Adams was wanted for first and second-degree murder in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He is being held without bond.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged Adams in connection with a fatal shooting at a car meet early Sunday morning, May 29, 2024. The victim was 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf. Community information was given to investigators, and Prince George’s County crime solvers played a role in the investigation.
